For example, Music is all digital however the amount of people buying music properly is wayyyy down from the past.

 

 

I think if they do it sales will crash, I would not even think about buying games like Uncharted for 60 bucks. 


Yes I believe when we do go more on the digital distribution side of things prices will be different.  I think it will be a lot more like steam sales

People have been selling out rights left and right lately.

What's funny is... outside of a consumer rights reasoning, it just doesn't make buisness sense.

Steam already does it for digital purchases. They would need to add a unique id to each game disc if that's possible.

That is more or less what the publishers are moving towards.

Batman: Arkham City: Buy the game new and get the Catwoman side-story for free

Gears of War 3: Buy the Season Pass for 2400 Microsoft Points, and get the first 4 DLC packs for free (saving 1200 MP in the process)

Books are sold side by side used though.

People don't really buy books from bookstores anymore, it's all Amazon.

Any economist will tell you the used market INCREASES sales and doesn't decrease them.

Game companies are going out of buisness because of a focus on expensive as hell technology that relies on a blockbuster system.

All the smaller companies and bigger poorly managed ones, surivive in a market like that.

Though used books are sold side by side with new ones is what I mean.  It all doesn't matter really.  A used market grows the new market because knowing you can sell something adds value to it.

 

I mean, if you went into a store to buy a phone and they said "This phone is $70 bucks, but there aren't any returns alowed on it since it's discontinued."

Then later you found out another store would buy that phone for $35... your not telling me your more likely to take a risk on it?

It's basic economics.

I mean.... why do people sell used games?

Let me put it this way. About 7 months ago, I sold Crysis 2 for $35. With that money, I was able to buy a brand new copy of Uncharted 2, one of the greatest video games of all time.
