That is more or less what the publishers are moving towards.
Battlefield 3: Buy the limited edition (for $60/£40) and get the Backt o Karkand expansion for free
Batman: Arkham City: Buy the game new and get the Catwoman side-story for free
Gears of War 3: Buy the Season Pass for 2400 Microsoft Points, and get the first 4 DLC packs for free (saving 1200 MP in the process)
