i love bill gates for what he's doing . sure he has the money and he won't see a difference for his own if he will use 10 billion for poor people but if you follow him and what he's doing and how he is passionate for that you really see that he's doing it to help people and not to be in the press or to do it to pay less taxes or whatever some might think.

seeing all these rich russians for example buying footbal teams to burn hundreds of millions every years just to see some people running behind a ball and then seeing what he is doing with his money is just great.

for me he is like lady diana or so, she did ist as well because of her love for other humans and not to be mrs samaritian in the press.

some say "but he is he doing it always with a huge press releases" but i think this brings other people to donate money as well and that's the plan. if you would never hear about charities many people wouldnt donate money. no clue why but some have to see other people doing it to do it as well. people who say that like the guy above me, what do you think how many people on this planet only donate money because people like gates doing it? i would say there are some million people who wouldn't do it without seeing people like gates doing it so it would be stupid from gates not to do it with publicity.

if gates really wants to help people he has to do it with big publicity that' the best he can do for poor people, talking about that to get others to act as well.

not sure whats wrong with some peoples brains. if someone like gates wouldn't donate money they would say "what a fking cunt" and if he donates they say "trololol just to pay less taxes not to help poor people on this planet" or "only so we will praise him for that". wow guys how fking stupid can someone act? fly to africa and work there for an year to help the people there if you are so much better but please stop trying to talk shit about people who really help if you don't really know that they are doing it just to push their own businesses.

Donating anonymously and donating by deceleration in the end are the same!!!

I agree one side is better but frankly if I made a great fortune and gave millions of dollars to a cause, I would want some recognition.

I had this debate in a history class before talking about the philanthropy of Rockefeller and Carnegie. Sure they were big bad business men and accumulated far far more wealth than anyone living today (inflation wise), but till this day they are also known for their philanthropy.

Everyone was pretending to be a Saint and saying if I was rich I would give all my money away and do it anonymously.

Maybe 1 or 2 out of 100 would be such kind hearted. However I have seen when people get money they change. Many do not give a crap about the world's problems or donate like 1 % of their wealth.



Anyways, In the end wanting respect and recognition for your life's work is not a selfish act.

like i said in my previous post,  i even think  donating anonymous as such a prominent guy would be worse. malaria/aids and things like that need attention and bill gates brings peoples attention to that. i bet there are people donating money now after reading this about bill  gates. some people need to see other people acting to act as well and they need to hear about all these bad diseases more often.

gates would be stupid doing it anonymous if he really is doing it to help the world. generating attention for such bad things is wonderful.

just imagine lady gaga would say "i will donate 100 million to fight cancer, we have to fight against cancer my little monsters" then some of her fans would do the same (just smaller amounts lol)

I like the example Gates sets: putting out products people find useful, getting successful off of it, and then giving a lot of that money to good causes and encouraging others to do the same.

Bill Gates is awesome and doing amazing things in the world. The people who hate on him for doing amazing things confuse the hell out of me.

You know, there is one thing on here and with people in general I have always found to be the funniest dam thing imaginable.

Lets say Bill Gates pays 25% of his income in taxes. Now lets say Bill Gates makes $1 billion this year alone. Bill Gates will effectively pay $250 million in taxes (This example is done out of completely simplicity, I know it can be much more complicated).

Bill Gates now donates $250 million for the SOLE purpose of lowering his taxes. Bill Gates now has $750 million in taxable income, and he pays $187.5 million in taxes. So in order to "avoid" paying $67.5 million in taxes, Bill Gates had to donate $250 million.

I have absolutely no clue where the stupid idiotic assumption came out that people donate money for the sole reason to avoid taxes, because it makes absolutely no sense. I'm almost positive one of the richest men in the world knows that donating money to lower your taxes is about as dumb as it gets, because you will wind up having a lot more money come out of your pocket.

Did it ever occur to people that perhaps Bill Gates realizes he has an incredible amount of money, and honestly just wants to help out the damned world with some of the issues that we have?
