I'm expecting the 3G vita to go the way of the 20GB PS3 and PSPGo. Japan seems to agree for the most part. Most people on these forums seem to not care for it much, either.

I was thinking the same exact thing.

For a $300 retail piece of hardware, it's worth a one year contract at best.

And for anyone who "wasn't planning on using 3G anyway" it's not even worth that. $180 extra for one year of an unused service? More like buy a $250 PSV and be done with it. 

There just isn't a lot of information regarding what's the point of the 3G feature. 

Naturally, people assumed it was going to be for games. A minority who don't already own smartphones and aren't already paying for a data plan were probably thinking of using it as a mobile browser.

At any rate, if the service isn't for the first group and you aren't in the second group, the whole 3G network access does seem a bit pointless. 

it's weird, I can't be without my music and I hate being away from my instant messengers and many of my friends, but the idea of needing an internet browser with you at all times just seems silly to me. I just don't see the point, the chances of you desperately needing internet service while you're on the bus or whatever reminds me of addiction more than social behaviour.

I spend a lot of time on the computer, but I don't have an ethernet port in my wrist :P

Psvita 3G no thanks I'm gonna spend over 300$ on it then 30$ more on limited Internet ...do they think we are suckers

by the way, only the 3G has a GPS, and some games use GPS. That's really the only reason I can tell.
(I know, wifi can give you location data as well, but it depends on if they are using a proxy or being routed through the town next to you, might give weird coordinates)

I wanted 3G then i learned you can't use it as car GPS :) And I can get 200MB internet packet for my phone for 2 euro/month so I'll just tether from it ;)

Why is that? Where did you learn that from?
