Forums - Sony - Why You Shouldn't Buy a 3G PS Vita

Can't wait for the PSV-2000, or rather, the PSV slim with 4G, if that'll ever happen.

All of this, of course, is just my opinion.

Skyrim 100%'d. Dark Souls 100%'d.
Dark Souls > Skyrim.
Halo 4 is the best damn FPS since Halo 3.
Proud pre-orderer of 2 PS4's and an Xbox One.

Currently Playing: Dark Souls II, South Park
Playstation 4: MGS V GZ, Killzone: Shadow Fall, NBA 2k14.

I'm getting the 3g anyway, because I want to help sony get through these tough economic times.
I also used my tax return to buy 10 3ds's in order to make sure nobody else could buy them / buy games for them.

If anyone really wants to play online with their Vita (or 3DS or any other wifi enabled device) the only REAL option is to buy a smartphone that is 4G (preferably real 4G, i.e. LTE, like my Galaxy Nexus) and utilize the wifi hotspot features.

That will enable to get FULL net access for your device anywhere at anytime. (obviously limited by your carriers range).

Then the only thing you may have to worry about is your data limits.

Save the extra $50, buy a wifi model, and just get the right phone with associated plans. You're paying the same extra fees (unless you root and rom said device) as the 3G model, but you'll actually get full functionality. Especially if you get a 4G LTE phone.

This is why I laughed at Sony for even offering a 3G model. Its so gimped and really a useless option. I don't see ANY reason for anyone to buy that model... unless they really are ignorant when it comes to available mobile technology and carrier offerings.

Good to know superchunk, i have a 4glte bionic. I will be happy to let my friends use my phone for wifi while I use the 3g for trophy browsing.
Very good to know.

Good reasons. I originally planned to get wifi version anyway.

I was never planning on getting the 3G model, but DAMN, I'd be pissed if I bought one and found out it couldn't play games online. That's just stupid as hell.

Wow wow, you can't buy use the 3G for gaming O_o The fuck is that?!

Its mostly there to stay connected, but some games can benifit from having it eg. ModNation Racers you can get your friends laptimes/ghosts and leave tracks you made for people to pick up , Ruin you can download peoples dungons to explore. Things you can do before you leave your house.

3g version too expensive anyway.
