Regardless of whether I use it or not, regardless if it costs more over time, I get a Vita free at launch with a free game.

Hope you don't plan on downloading any games with that 2GB data plan, because there are plenty of games that are over the 2GB limit and that will make you pay extra.

Maybe this should be a new thread, but entitle this post:

"Why I'm buying a 3G PS Vita"

It only effects the initial batch of shipments, or for as long as SCE runs the promotion, but they just announced a new $299 Launch Bundle that includes an 8GB memory card, a 250MB data session and a PSN game.

While the PSN game and even the data session aren't really worth that much, until cheaper 3rd party memory cards become available, the 8GB card, which I would have bought anyway with a WiFi PSVita, currently costs $30.

For an extra $20, it doesn't matter if I rarely ever or even never use the 3G connectivity again after the free session.

I went from canceling my 3G order a couple weeks back to ordering the Launch Bundle.

I don't think it's even possible to download games over 2GB via 3G connectivity.

First, it would take an impractical amount of time to do so. Assuming anyone was attempting to do this while mobile, the battery would probably die before it could even finish the download.

Second, why? Just... why? Who would want to download that much data in one session over a pokey 3G connection? Especially when anyone who's actually footing the data plan bill knows they're paying by the data amount rather than for an unlimited plan.

Unless someone didn't have a WiFi connection at home and lacked the basic intelligence to find a public WiFi hotspot, why would anyone even entertain the thought of using a 3G connection for that?
