Why would his/her revision have to include inFamous? That's not as critically adored on the same level as Uncharted or LBP. |
I listen to too much ign, they love infamous, what should I change it too?

Well if you want a series that always gets a high metacritic rating you could go with MLB: The Show. People always forget about it but that series (on PS3) consistently gets high 8's and 9's on meta.

Most of Nintendo's game franchises are household names (Mario, Zelda, Pokemon), Sony's franchises arent necessarily household names, they tend to change/make new IPs every 5 or so years. So in this case Nintendo ---> Uses the same IPs for the past 20+ years. Dont be surprised to see Nintendo selling like hotcakes, its because they have multiple generations of fans unlike Sony/MS. Edit: Their lucky their first party titles are well known, otherwise Nintendo would of been the 2nd Sega or actually the third Atari. |
Yeah you're completely right, and the few SONY franchises that were established have been hit pretty hard this gen (Final fantasy, gran turismo).

But you said you didn't mean recently. What did you mean then? |
To be honest? I don't even know any more x_x
This article seems to imply that the X360 is becoming more and more of a media hub and less and less of a gaming hub. This is easily disproven when one looks at software sales, we can see the 360 is seeing more gaming time than ever before.
The PS3 gets praise for getting so many exclusives, but it should be noted most of them aren't particularly great and have modest sales. Some of their IPs have even seen a sharp decline.
Ultimately, the 360 has Halo, Gears, Forza, Fable, and Kinect. I personally think that outweighs Sony's line up which is why 360 is still going strong.

But ya Gran Turismo hit a new low, mostly cause they took so damn long to make it, it was right up to the jokes along with Duke Nukem Forever lol. |
I meant it's associated with sony, more specifically playstation, and obviously that's changed.

I should have written in past tense. Sorry about that.
In all honesty though, I think that's why the Wii has sold as well as it has. Every year from late 2006 to late 2010, you had about one BIG title every few months. Wii Sports was launched alongside with Twilight Princess, and then, in rough chronological order, they released Wii Play, Mario Party 8, Super Mario Galaxy, Super Smash Bros Brawl, Mario Kart Wii, Wii Fit, Wii Sports Resort, Wii Fit Plus, New Super Mario Bros Wii, Super Mario Galaxy 2, Wii Party, and Donkey Kong Country Returns.
True, not all of the games above are masterpieces, but on average, Nintendo was able to produce about one 5+ million seller every four months. This only changed in 2011, when the big games, with the possible exception of Skyward Sword, stopped coming out. If it weren't for Zelda and Just Dance 3, a multiplaform game, the Wii would be in the shitter.
In contrast, Sony has had a lot of moderate hits. Over two dozen Sony-published games have become million sellers on the PS3, but only two, Uncharted 2 and Gran Turismo 5, ever reached the same tier as the above Nintendo hits. Therefore, the PS3 has been less sucessful, if one believes that hardware sells software rather than the other way around. However, these titles came out at a more steady rate, so PS3 sales have been better mantained than the Wii's.

How did it hit a new low?? You mean critic reviews? Meh |
Critic reviews aside, the main thing is that it's just not the best of the best anymore, there was an unbelievable amount of hype around it and after what, 6 years in development? It finally came out and it was very good, but it was not the masterpiece people were expecting.
So in summary of the "quality/quantity" arguement here, most folks would rather eat a T-bone stake once a day and nothing else than and 3 items from the McD/KFC menu whenever you feel like it.
