Forums - General Discussion - Megaupload just got shut down...

Proof that SOPA is not needed. With the tools of international cooperation and actual fucking due process, foreign-based rogue sites can be dealt with

The worse blow to my mind will be the loss of MegaVideo that was the embedded video side of Megaupload. Anime streaming sites are littered with Megavid links that will take weeks to replace

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

why are file sharing sites like megaupload and such OK but sites like Piratebay are considered bad? Aren't they basically the same thing?

new megaupload (not sure if really or fake)

http://megavideo.bz/

I wonder if Mediafire and Rapidshare are shitting their pants right now.

Unless they operate differently than Megaupload, I'm not well educated on the differences.

Platinums: Red Dead Redemption, Killzone 2, LittleBigPlanet, Terminator Salvation, Uncharted 1, inFamous Second Son, Rocket League

Lol, that's funny if true. The US government can never stop file sharing sites...resistance is futile. They should rather try to work with them and help them (e.g. provide them with resources) get rid of illegal material.

I wish but they wouldn't want to spend a penny.

They are pretty much the same, yes. I've always wondered that though. Also, sites where you can stream TV shows for free (non-official ones) are considered okay by the general public but torrents are not (even though torrent doesn't equal piracy at all times).

And it seems like companies only take legal actions against torrent sites. It's rather perplexing.

Yes i was thinking the same, megavideo anime links are all dead, but the good thing is most prominent anime sites (anilinkz) have like 10 different links for recent anime, so its more of the older anime that are in need of replacement.

Ah now it works, but dont you think its strange...that they would put it back up already or actually is this a new group?

i have no clue about all of this i never use those sites i just got this information from an austrian site:

http://www.telekom-presse.at/Anonymous_legen_US-Justizministerium_und_Musikverlage_lahm.id.18387.htm

Wow, this is getting huge dimensions:

Anonymous just took down the websites of the Department of Justice, Universal Music Group, RIAA and MPAA. Yep, all at the same time. And that's not all:

the websites of the Police of Utah, the US-Copyright Office, the french Copyright agency Hadopi were attacked. Even an attack on WhiteHouse.gov is planned.

...and here comes the spicy part: Anonymous says this is just the beginning.

Source is Crissindahouse's link.

UPDATE: FBI.gov is down, too.
