Forums - Gaming - Crysis console version

The console version of the original Crysis was released in October last year as a download only title with Trophy support but no multiplayer. EA has a sale during January so it costs only $10 now (at least on PSN). I thought it would be interesting to see how it ran on consoles so I bought it a few days ago.

For some reason I always had shunned Crysis as just being style over substance and I never finished it on PC. But now that I chose the hardest difficulty to hear the enemies speak Korean (they only do that on hardest) I found that the game becomes very tactical and interesting. You can't just go in and run'n'gun, and best of all, despite being semi-linear and not truly open-world you can take on objectives in a variety of ways.

I highly recommend it.

If I were you I'd change the video, it's the PC version with mods running at what looks like 15 fps. Not exactly the best video to showcase the console versions running at 30fps xD

Much different to Crysis 2? I thought that was absolute pants. The combat felt heavy, the AI were stupid, the game was linear.

Disconnect and self destruct, one bullet a time.

Oops.

Not sure as I haven't played Crysis 2. But Crysis 1 has great enemy AI (at least for the humans) and it's much less linear than Crysis 2.

What do you mean by heavy combat? Slow movements and heavy feel of weapons like in Killzone 2 and Battlefield 3? Crysis is not that heavy.

Crysis 2, is much much more linear than Crysis, or Crysis warhead. But, the second crysis had some scenes where my jaw dropped on PC (pretty much the only game ever to do that from a technical perspective).

Don't read if you don't want spoilers to crysis 1

Did they put Crysis Warhead on Xbox? That's better imo, psycho is more entertaining. The first half of crysis is great tho. When the aliens come in, it's much more  linear and they are stupid. Sort of like the aliens in crysis 2. The flying ship part is fun, but clunky.

No Crysis Warhead on consoles.

I like BF3, and it was even heavier than battlefield, the aiming was slow, the guns were bland and it was just generally slow, hard to explain but it was just too clanky for me, and the controls weren't much better. I usually try to reach the maximum rank in MP FPS, but I just couldn't bear that.

Completed on both PC and 360. I thought the enemy AI in Crysis was still lacking but I only played on normal difficulty. It can be quite a good tactical shooter if played like that. Running and gunning just causes frame rate issues (on console). One thing I liked about the console versions was the steamlined controls ala more Crysis 2 style.

id recommended it for 10 bucks aswell even though i was impatient and payed 20

i always play games on the highest difficulty too i feel that i appreciated the game more when being challenged

i thought both crysis's where pretty easy though on there hardest difficulty b/c of the stealth especially 2 as its stealth last longer. the games itself is overall average too but recommend them b/c there game play is quite different from most FPS that have released, and there story's were entertaining at least to me

now go get 2 slimebeast!
