So let's just do a inaccurate and conservative calculation:

If theoretically 39M xbl users pay 40 bucks per year for XBL, the revenue figure would be:

1.560 Billion USD...

Oh and to be clear on my earlier "air" remark - I wasn't attacking your numbers. I apologize if you took it that way. I was just pointing out that you may have misheard something in your excitement of Balmer's announcement regarding the 360's sales position. I know how you're a pretty enthusiastic guy and my comment was supposed to illustrate your joy of the announcement.

Although they've used sold to consumers in the past, I genuinely think this is shipped. 66m install base would mean 66.8 shipped or something, which is 9.2m, that's just too high imo.

Although they've used sold to consumers in the past, I genuinely think this is shipped. 66m install base would mean 66.8 shipped or something, which is 9.2m, that's just too high imo.

But also possible. They hav probably been working towards christmas ssales all year. After all, thats where there releases were. an extra 200k isnt that much. and they also may have sold more than expected leaving the retailers spread thin. 

I did see 2 places out o stock on 360s in christmas week and new year week in Plymouth England.

no that's (short of) 40 million Gold and Silver members. AFAIR 60% of them are Gold members. Meaning around $1b in subsription revenue.
even though I'd say that the normal price for a subsrciption would lean more towards $50-$55 ($60 being official price + Europeans paying more)

So more like $1.2b
