Errr, not really.

First week sales were good, just because it drops the second week doesn't mean it's dead. It hasn't launched in the West yet and it is competing with the 3DS which is doing very well at the moment. Wait until the Western launch and give it a few months before you start with the "DOOOOMED!!!" threads, things will pick up.

You think this is bad, just wait until a month or two after the full release for real doom talk. Everyone will go crazy and overboard during that time. Sony fans and Sony need to be prepared for the perfect storm of hatred headed towards it.

Oh man, I'm a big supporter of the Vita so I guess I'm going to have a tough time then. Maybe I'll just 'quit the internet' for a few months.

Slight possibility that Sony Vita does do really well in western market (past the first month), but I honestly don't think it will do as well as other competitive products, hence the doom talk.

The only thing that really annoys me about the vita is the need for a memory card, in this day and age products like this have at lest a few gb of storage.

I say we wait a year before we doom it. If it makes it to the West that is.

Don't worry. We 3DS fans were had to deal with half a year of doom, but the ultimate sucess was made all the sweeter by knowing we were right.

The majority of the doom came quite a few months after the launch though, mainly around E3. I knew the 3DS would pick up eventually, I never supported the 3DS doom threads.

Why are there always so many people jumping to conclusions in the very first stages of console lives, when we have seen time and time again that the first months are not proof of how the console will fare. Actually more often than not the first year of a console is quite shitty in terms of sales, yet we still get these articles after two weeks of sales. Happened with 3DS and now PSV.

Not really. People started dooming the 3DS around April. We heard about how the only notable game at launch was a port, how only two games were coming out until Star Fox, and how Mario 3D Kid Icarus alone couldn't save the holidays. They shut up around October, when numbers picked up and release dates were confirmed. That's a solid 6 months.

The Vita? I imagine it will have a similar journey. Just wait till Call of Duty comes out November 2012. It'll sell gangbusters in the West.

Doom is overrated.

Ehh, there was a lot of doom talk then, but it got progressively worse and that was mostly on forums, gaming media started the doom articles later. Not to mention I think the 3DS was in a worse position, it was the same price as the Vita then and the games in the launch window were far worse in my opinion. Even though it was in a far worse position, I still thought the 3DS doom threads and articles were bullshit, I knew sales would pick up eventually.

It's hard to say where the Vita will go, with good advertising I have a feeling it will do very well in the West with Uncharted as a launch title. Like you said, I can't imagine what Call of Duty would do for it.

It would only be a perfect storm if Nintendo had some big releases coming up right at the Vita launch in the West I think. Without looking I do not know if they are. But I do know that there are some sort of big games on their way.

New Resident Evil, MGS, Kid Icarus, Luigis mansion, various a Jrpg games, etc. Plus all the games that would usually come out.

I think those games are not as big as the Christmas ones, so Vita could have a better chance! There are other factors, but I would not know much about that.

What is up with the video playstaion?

Yeah, Nintendo dropped the ball. They should have had a major Pokemon release ready for the Vita's launch. We're talking same week. Imagine the blow to Sony that'd be.

3DS has Resident Evil and Kid Icarus timed for the Vita launch.

And Western Media/Propaganda is allready doing its job on scaring people away from the Vita. Every week in Japan the Vita sells worse....propaganda writes itself.
