I'm a little surprised that the WiiU doesn't use state of the art DirectX 11, but instead uses the older 10.1. I hope this doesn't mean Microsoft is saving DirectX 11 for the Next Box.  While great, I don't want to  be limited to DX 11 or DX 11.1 as we will be locked into already several year old tech for another bunch of years. (Please innovate with DirectX 12 or more!)

Can I ask where you got that information from? K'thnx.

Also, DX11 has been out for a while now but devs  just recently started  using it in PC games. Most games are still using DX 9 and 10. Devs don't make a mass jump on to a new API as soon as it is released, the transition  takes a couple of years.

Even Epic gave us Samaritan as what they expect from next gen consoles and that's a DX11 demo.

You seriously think the Wii U is going to pull off graphics like the Good Samaritan demo?  We have already seen a preview of the Wii U graphics and they are closer to the level the PS3 can pull than the ones in the Samaritan demo.

WTF?...

Where did I say Wii-U is going to be doing Samaritan demo?...reading comprehension fail.

Oh, and demoes thrown together a few weeks before E3 using current gen assets on unfinalised hardware is in no way, shape or form a 'preview' of the final wii-U console capabilities.

No,  if anything it was writing fail.  Zappykins said that they didn't know why the Wii U wouldn't be using DX11.  You said "Even Epic gave us Samaritan as what they expect from next gen consoles and that's a DX11 demo."  What would you even include that sentence if you weren't implying such?

And I highly doubt that Zelda demo was just "thrown together a few weeks before E3."  So, those are the graphics to expect on the Wii U.

It's painfully obvious that is addressing the part of his post where he says he wants NextBox to use DX12. So, yeah, reading comprehension fail on your part.

" Can I ask where you got that information from? K'thnx." is the only part that is adressing the part about Wii-U using direcetx 10.1.

As for your last sentence, Nintendo themselves told us the demos were put together a few weeks before E3 using current gen assests. Even Darksiders 2 devs said the demo they wanted to show was a quick build. And we all know that Wii-U's hardware was far from finalised at E3, so I'll just go with my common sense and say those demos don't represent what the Wii-U will be capable of.

It doesn't matter. By how the tech is advancing, even the "least powerful" console will have awesome features; graphics and hopefully awesome games too lol. Even if the WiiU becomes the least powerful of the 3 next-gen consoles, it will have great looking games (like the Zelda demo). Graphics at this point are already fantastic (PS3, 360)....If a six years old console can show Uncharted 3 graphics, imagine what a console released in 2 years from now will be capable to do.

In the end, all what will matter is the OS of the consoles and the "imagination of the companies" If the system has the ability to offer drastic updates in the look, functionality, and features; with each FW, (something like what M$ is trying to do with 360) even though the "power" wont change, if it allows to do more and better things as time goes by, it will be the console with the most "powerful entertainment".

This man gets it.

Next gen will be mainly about the online services, social & entertainment features and such.

Well, then, I apologize for the comprehension fail.  Looked to me like you were only addressing the part you bolded in his post.

Anyway, yes, the multiplat demos were basically just their 360 and PS3 counterparts.  Which when the Wii U launches, I wouldn't expect much more from multiplats.  3rd parties most likely won't be spending extra money and time on using the Wii U to its fullest.  But as far as the Zelda demo goes, this was the one that was really supposed to show off the Wii U tech.  So I'm sure Nintendo spent a little more time and care creating it than just a quick rush of two weeks.

Yay!!!

PS4 and nextbox will be powerful, but out of budget price. maybe 5 times more powerful then their 7th gen. counterparts.

Probably PS4 will be on paper, but in practice it probably won't make much of a difference, as visually I expect NextBox/PS4 multiplats to be indistinguishable from one another like this gen. Except for the bugs of course, right PS3 owners? Haha, I kid I kid!!

I think it's become pretty apparent over the last generation that the days of arguing over bits, polygon counts, gigaflops and other such terms are long gone.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

Sony will likely continue with its downright bizarre strategy of losing money and shrinking its installed user base with the most powerful / expensive hardware next generation.

Can't predict the future about the next box and PS4 but I'm sure WiiU will be last in terms of power.
