Forums - Sales - 3DS will hit ~15 million next week, fastest selling system in history by 2 months

I'll wait for the shipped numbers before I uncork the champagne

All bow to me the VGChartz current reigning 3DS prediction champion

Bet with tbone51: Pokeon X & pokemon Y will not sell more than 8 million in 2013

July 2009 daveJ saidTrue the wii has a large lead now but by 2017 the most likely result will be 1. ps3 2. xbox360 3. wii <-- wii's successor launched in 2011 effectively killing sales of the wii

2009 daveJ said: The wii will not break the 50% marketshare barrier it will go below the 40% marketshare barrier though in the future. VGChartz members: Impossible, youre an idiot that knows nothing about sales

It had a price cut but still costs more than the DS at launch...this means for the first months, people gives the 3DS an higher value than they did with DS for its first year. After all, if it was sold at 169$ from launch would it mean any accomplishment was not legal?
Well done 3DS! Still a long way to meet Nintendo's expectations (about 4-5m for the FY) but still a great performance, hopefully it'll last.

CURRENTLY PLAYING: Xenoblade (Wii), Super mario 3D land (3DS), Guild Wars (PC)

You say price cut, I hear "despite starting at $250."

PS2 is still the best selling console ever in my eyes. Even though everyone I know has a least 2 because of the crappy DVD lasers they used in the fatties. lol

Ok, so when this news breaks it is IMPERITIVE to us as 3DS owners to make sure every damn business wire, and trader, knows this news.

Link it, comment on it, tweet it, get everyone talking about it.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.
