Forums - Sony - CoD Vita: How do you expect it to perform?

CoD Vita could be the saviour of the Vita in the west, but it may not have the influence that we hope for. It has the potential to sell millions and drive a huge sales boost, yet it could just as easily fail to sell the expected amount from a game in the CoD franchise. There are obviously a lot of factors regarding the potential success of this game, and we can discuss them in this topic.

- How successful do you think CoD: Vita will be?

- Will the Vita be successful in the west because of it?

- Will you be buying CoD: Vita?

COD on the Vita sounds like a system seller on paper that's for sure, I'm just as curious as you are.

1. Nowhere near Modern Warfare
2. No
3. No.

Look at the ds sales. :P

1. Decent numbers, but nothing OTT. With the new generation of powerful home consoles just around the corner, the next generation of home console FPSs will be better looking and more feature rich than anything a Vita game can hope to provide. The widened gulf between home and handheld games will make the prospect of explosive COD sales on Vita unlikely. It just won't be a "must have" item in the same way its console brothers are. That said, it should still do reasonably well.

2. It'll be a boost, for sure. It won't be a system maker though.

3. Maybe.

If its a proper COD and Vita is not a flop, then 4-7 Million.

Atto Suggests...:

Book - Malazan Book of the Fallen series

Game - Metro Last Light

TV - Deadwood

Music - Forest Swords

@BasilZero
I meant the CoD sales on the ds to see how they potentially could sell. Then divide it in half since the vita will not be as popular as the ds...
On a serious not. Less than 4 million units sold worldwide.

This depends on how closely they can emulate the multiplayer experience from the home consoles. It can be quite close but those vita sticks will get lose over hehe.

Not sure about the vita yet. I like what i see but there are just too many annoying things about it and sony's marketing and pr.

Depends.

If it's the same game as PS3/360 will get, then it could do quite well.

If it has online mode, where you can play with PS3 players online, then it could do really well.

I think it will do quite similar to GTA PSP to be honest.

Oh I see

Is the CoD on DS even a good port or is it just a poor imitation? Never actually seen it myself nor heard much about its sales figures compared to the other versions.

In terms of sales units that the Vita version will sell, I would say at least 2 million world wide lol (if not less).

Everyone here who is honest with themselves knows full well that the DS and even the PSP did not have the proper controls to support a big time competitive multiplayer experience like the Vita will be able to.

Saying a game like CoD will not sell well because it didn't on the DS is ludicrous. That's like thinking CoD wouldn't sell boatloads on the PS3 and/or 360 because it didn't sell as high on the much higher selling Nintendo Wii, which we all know is not the case.

CoD DS

Vita will look something like this -
