It appears as if the dreaded Online Pass is headed for games on the PlayStation Vita.  The Online Pass is similar to what we see publishers doing with games on the Xbox 360 and PS3, which was recently created as a way for publishers to profit from the used games market.

According to Gamepur, Hot Shots Golf is one of the first PS Vita games which will use the Online Pass.  Just like the console games that use the Online Pass, users who purchase the game new from retail stores will get the voucher code.  However, those who buy a used copy of hte game will have to buy the online pass separately via the PlayStation Store for $15 (900 YEN).

ItProPortal also revealed that gamers who purchase and download the game via PlayStation Network would have to pay an additional amount to play the game online.

With the PS Vita struggling in sales, this Online Pass discovery surely won't help.  Generally, gamers aren't fans of the extra fee for the Online Pass.

 Personnaly, I think this is a rather stupid move to include such a thing in handheld games

900 yen is not 15 dollars, it's around 10 isn't it? Could be 11 now.

uh, I miss the days of throwing in the cartridge and playing a game in seconds. Whether its your console, your friends or some homeless guy who happens to own a console and tv.

No codes to play, no pre-order dlc, no internet needed to get everything the game offers, no need for patches, no extra fees to play the game you just bought, no installs, no coffee break loading times, no worry about hard-drive space, ect.

Gaming was so much easier back before this generation.

I dont care, I buy all my games new.

Why do you need to pay extra for online when you buy a digital copy?

You don't need an online pass for digital copies, it's only 2nd hand hard copies.

This only happened because gamestop started selling games for 5 bucks less used (or in some cases more used then new if you look around) and I have no problem with it.

Not surprised and not bothered.
