As reported earlier, PlayStation Vita's 20 launch games sold a combined total of 300,000 copies in the system's first two days of availability, according to Japanese retail tracker Media Create.

That compares unfavourably to the 0.95 first week attach rate of 3DS and the 1.06 first week attach rate of PSP, but that does not take in account the games Vita owners have purchased digitally via PSN.

Speaking at a press conference for Gung Ho Entertainment's Ragnarok Odyssey in Japan this week, Sony Computer Entertainment Japan CEO Hiroshi Kawano said the retail sales were "a figure in accordance with expectations".

But he went on to add: "Sales of the download versions of titles are exceeding expectations," and that games and peripherals are selling extremely well."

Kawano refrained from revealing any hint of the download figures.

Awesome! I hope DD becomes a big thing for the Vita!

That's good news, but exceeding expectations could mean anything in terms of numbers! Wish they gave us some figures so we could judge how big Digital is Vs Retail.

Yeah, figures would be really nice, but I guess we'll have to settle for now. Hopefully the 40% price rumor is true!

Yup, I think we're (VGChartz) going to try and create better relations with publishers, and the big 3, so they can release more info to us (hopefully). If a lot of sales on Vita are digital the sales we track here are gonna be be boring, even though we know it's doing better (but to what extent)

Yeah, minimum figures are nice, but hardly as useful as the full figures.

Figures would be very nice seeing how we have no idea what said expectations are/were.

Hope it's doing well though.

Definitely looking forward to a day when we have much better insight in DD sales.

Expectations could be extremely low for all we know

in the Japan launch almost every game discounted on PSN and many of them were discounted by 1000 yen. in addition sony had a rewards program in place for the use of PSN from the start of the launch. add these factors to the news that many places have sold out of 16 and 32GB mem cards, I would say there's agood chance digital sales did really well.

I think it's roughly around 10 - 12 bucks
