Forums - Sony Discussion - The Last Guardian Canceled UPDATE: according to Gamestop, but Sony disagrees

According to several GameStop customers and employees, The Last Guardian has been removed from GameStop's computer system and possibly canceled. Clerks at several stores confirmed that the game was no longer listed among titles that were coming soon and several customers of the store have received calls telling them that the game had been canceled. Blogger Darren Hupke even recorded the message. A search of the retailer's web site also shows no trace of the game.

For the moment we're without official confirmation, so we've got our fingers crossed that this is just a clerical error. Of course, with the recent departure of Fumito Ueda, we can't say this would come as a complete surprise (despite Ueda being "committed to completing" the game).

We've reached out to Sony and the company is checking into it, we'll let you know what we hear.

The odds of a US retailer breaking a JPN development game cancellation are pretty low. Also OP is very misleading. There is no official news about cancellation.

My track record is not that well known on VGC but I do believe people would know that I'm not one to make shit up. So all I have to offer was my personal experience with a phone call I got 20 minutes ago. Official has nothing to do with it, it will become official by someone sooner or later.

Plus another poster on gaf made a similar thread to mine.

GAF thread had clearly in the thread title that it's according to GameStop that TLG got cancelled. Your thread title makes it sound official like it would be from Sony.

Nooooooooooooooooooo! It was my most anticipated game!

I hope the game wasn`t cancelled. I am really looking forward to this game...

It's not been canceled.

Sony says it's not true. People once again overreacting.

Hey I know you're upset about your game being canceled but I'm the messenger, go get angry with Ueda. Also go listen to the recording in the OP where it clearly states the game's been canceled. Again, don't shoot the messenger and try not to have a meltdown while you're at it.

Lets hope it isn't a miscommunication like the whole vita having one account (Sony themselves were confusing people) and this is the stated fact that it isn't cancelled.

You guys actually think GameStop knows what it's talking about? I went in there a couple days ago to ask about
Xenoblade Chronicles and they're like what game? Mario? And I told them, No, Xenoblade Chronicles for the Wii, apparently it's only available to pre-order through you guys.

Then the GameStop numbskull tells me that that's the first he's ever heard of it. GS employees are fucking dumbasses. It's not cancelled.

If someone here is having meltdown it's you. Some people really are so damn oversensitive in internet...I was just pointing out about misleading thread title. No big deal but still something to avoid in future.
