God what a mess ....

To clarifiy, psrock no it's not ok to shout undertracked without any evidence, actually it's a moderatable defense and it's ruining convo.

To the rest that say 'X360 gets adjusted down every year, PS3 up' I don't think so.

Last year after christmas (and this is using adjusted numbers) the PS3 had 1.7m on shelves. It's at 58.2 atm, set to do 1 mill this week, 1.2m week after likely, and 600k week after going by last year and how it's up yoy. That's 61 sell through.

Sony expect 6.8 - 7.6 shipped this Q so that would be 62.3 - 63.1 (1.3m - 2.1m on shelves.)

If it's bang in the middle of that then it's on par with last year.

The snide remarks about NPD and adjustments shouldn't be tolerated, so enjoy them whilst you still can.

Did you know the PS3 outsold the Xbox 360 worldwide in 2009 and 2010? Shocking isn't it? Its ahead of 360 this year too. It will be close though.

I'm guessing you're one of those people that think America = The World.

I couldn't agree with you more.

ok, so i gave Jack credit for SS and ND which you're saying isn't credit he deserves which i can agree with. it seems north America can do without Trenton from your perspective.

i guess Sony as a whole is missing a more aggresive strategy.

maybe Sony are looking at the fact that for most of this gen., they've had to fight, claw, and cratch thier way back having create their own ip to have any chance this gen, so their relying on themselves v 3rd party support?

i'm not sure Sony even knows what to do with move? move has so much potential for the hardcore, and the family friendly, but the software just isn't there. i'd like to know what Sonys next step is(from thier serspective, not our's), cause what ever it is, will  determine how move will be used, and viewed in the future, and for the most part, moves potential has yet to be shown.

i think KB would be better as a mainstream v the core. it seems EA and Ubisoft are Sonys last chance next yr. a special edition AC consolecould help

medieval nights, the fight light's out, (i have yet to play either game, and reviews are opinions)and Sorcery are steps in the right direction, but they have yet to make move or the later 2 ip mentioned seem relevant.

i think with Sorcery, move will have that presence, considering it's amongst vgc PS members, most anticipated ip, but it can't be the only thing in their move library for 2012.

i'm not really sure what SCEJ and SCEE can do at this point, but i'd like to see something within the next few months. it'd nice to know what those 2 have been wo rking on as of late.

Kevin Butler could make the jump back to being much more mainstream than where he's at now, but what I'm seeing is that Sony is going to mostly move away from Butler. Bad move, but they've had about 5 commercials over the holiday (so far) and Butler has been in one and it wasn't that good.

strange. can't say i see where Sony is going with that move.

Jack Tretton took over as President and CEO SCEA after Kaz Hirai ran during the PS1 and PS2 eras. By the time Jack took over the PS2 was weakening because the new generation had started. I wouldn't pin everything on Jack, but as a leader he is leading the American branch that is about 20 million units outsold by the second place console in the war (360), which its self was almost 8 million units outsold by the leading system. Of course Kaz had the brilliant Ken Kutaragi leading the division. Even with that though Kaz has been pushed for the complete rebranding of the PS3, new advertising, bringing the game developers in to make the Vita.

rebranding could help, but they need an ip to strike a cord with the consumer.

Tretton can't succeed. He barks ALOT, but he has no bite. pitbull with no teeth

PlayStation Move does have so much potential. I know it might sound bad, but SCEI needs to force top notch developers to make games for the controller. Games that require the controller and then bundle them together for a year.

agreed, but (dare i say) Sony needs to make new teams who's whole focus is Move.

SCEJ over saw Gran Turismo 5: Prologue and Gran Turismo 5 (combined have sold over 11 million units, I believe) and SCEE has LittleBigPlanet that rivals Uncharted in terms of sales and then there is KillZone that also performs pretty well.

well, it seems the bigger ip come from SCEE. it'd be nice to know what they've been up to. Sony needs something big next yr., and it doesn't matter where it comes from.

For the third party thing Sony has strengthened their WorldWide Studios to rival Nintendo's (Yes, I did say that, deal with it Nintendoites). They need to finish this generation stronger on the third party side than they started. The PS2 was so dominate because Sony was making outstanding first party games and was getting outstanding third party exclusives.

well as a ninty fan, that doesn't bother me much considering Ninty is boring me to death. i'd like to know what Sony has considering the reports coming in that they have something(not much detail) coming next yr.?

From there you can see how the X360 eventually got adjusted down by over 700K. The "over 51 million" for X360 that VGC had on New years eve '10/11 has been adjusted down to 50,3 million as of today's numbers.

Instead the PS3 got adjusted up by 200K or something like that.

Please prove your work, because what I could gather from that was the the PS3 was adjusted up 3,713 and the 360 down 88,663. See my other post for more detail.

That's just for December. You can see total adjustments from this:

Thats true, but that is not what people have been claiming over and over again the last couple of weeks. Every discussion turns into the Sony fans saying just you wait the holiday sales will be adjusted once January comes.  Most of the adjustments that come about during the year are made during the year not saved up for January/February.

Its libraries that sell systems not a single game.

Good week overall, huge for XB360. Ninty doing good, but it has nothing as big as Wii and DS last year.

SCEE seems to be the leading branch right now. Which is one of the factors why I approve of the Andrew House taking over as President and CEO of SCEI.

Hmmm. We mostly agree....I don't think i've seen this before...

Weird.

I think some adjustments were made, this is how it looked last week, now it is different. Went back to the 3rd of December week and numbers are different from the global thread (hardware numbers adjusted down for the most part). Can someone confirm this?
