Forums - Nintendo - 3DS breaks sales records in Australia!

Another thing that I gleaned from this article is that the 3DS is 249 dollars in Australia! It got those numbers with that price? This really is a pretty good feat, especially since they are spending about 80 dollars more than Americans are.

Is that US Dollars or Australian Dollars?

Obviously Australian dollars, though it makes no difference as 1 USD is only worth 1.01 Aussie dollars.

wow this thread was made before the other one, and it's more detailed!

Thanks! So it is still a lot. Thought they were about the same now from what I saw in another thread.

Honestly it's not too bad in comparison, PS3 was $999 AUD, and games can cost up to 120 dollars at places. So the 3ds for the price of two games must sound good to them :p AU gets screwed on gaming too much :(

What is more impressive is the 3DS launched here for $349.95AUD at a time when $1AUD = $1.04US to $1.09 US.

If it launched at $249.95AUD it would be much higher.

Yeah I got mine for $350 AU but I'm still happy with my purchase.

Some stores have them as low as $199 now.

don't mind my username, that was more than 10 years ago, I'm a different person now, amazing how people change ^_^

Reason why the $250 price point hits so well with so many is that our minimum wage is twice that of the US so it's affordable to a larger percentage of the population.

While the RRP is $249 its been $199 for a while now at most retailers, which is why its selling so well.
