Reason why the $250 price point hits so well with so many is that our minimum wage is twice that of the US so it's affordable to a larger percentage of the population.

I see...

So that's why things are so 'expensive' over there despite the dollar being similar to America's.

and because of import taxes and some legacy as people are "used to" the prices. Howver people have slowly been buying more and more online, so retailers have become a bit more competative. They have reached a point where the Government is thinking about taxing people for buying online hahahaha.

I really enjoy with my 3DS now. While people complain about 3DS lack of software, Nintendo just do what they have to do.

While the RRP is $249 its been $199 for a while now at most retailers, which is why its selling so well.

I can only imagine that it cost so much in Australia because of shipping cost? Is there no Nintendo of Australia?

there is a Nintendo of Australia, in the past they where useless as tits on a bull. Things have significantly improved.

Also our population is like 23million so shipping does play a factor as we do not get hugeshipments, plus import taxes are highhere.. As I said before a lot of prices is the mentality of the old when internet shopping wast easily accesible. So they exploitedmaking huge profits.

That is good to hear that they are doing better now. Just got to get them to keep the games coming on time and you guys will be alright! You do have quite a bit of games that come after everyone else right?

things have improved. in general we get stuff at the same time as Europe now or slightly later (2months worst case I think - past could be way longer). We have even hadstuff launch in Australia first. From memory New Super Mario Bros launched in Aus by like a week first haha.
