Forums - Gaming - Skyrim wins 2011 VGA GOTY award and over a dozen more.

What should have won GOTY?

Skyrim 134 41.74%

Uncharted 3 83 25.86%

Batman Arkham City 22 6.85%

Portal 2 14 4.36%

Skyward Sword 67 20.87%

Total:320

Griffin I have to say the problems you are describing are not consistent with the 360 version. My guess is your 360 is on the way out or you have a defective copy which just doesn't seem logical.

Well deserved, I'm currently loving Skyrim but I'm not opposed to Fallout 4 coming ASAP!

Seriously just viewed griffins profile and apparently Sony fans are so enraged they will now make up stories about the game and claim it comes from the 360 version...how sad. I can understand Sony fans being upset...lets face this type of game just doesn't work well with the ps3 memory limitations. They should never have released it for the ps3 or spent an extra year on a seperate version tailored to the ps3. But for the rest of us this game is the clear goty.

this I have a dozen friends who have the 360 version and have each played it for over one hundred hours. The only problem that any of them have ever experienced other then small things like dragons occasinally acting funny, is that some quest items do not dissappear after finishing the quest and so you are stuck with them.

Personally the only glitches I experience with the pc version of the game is that menu hotkeys occasionally don't work.

I think user scores on metacritic prove either griffin is exceptionally unlucky or lying about the version he has.

User scores for all three versions of the game when it first came out were 8.9ish for the consoles and 8.5 for the pc(with the main complaint being the game interface was made with consoles in mind)

Now the 360 version is at 8.5, The PC version is at 8.3, and the ps3 version is at 5.5.  Clearly all 3 versions lost some points due to bugs appearing later on, but the ps3 version is the only one with enough bugs to completely ruin the experience because users in general still view the 360 and PC version very favorably.

Skyrim more popular then Dark Souls sure. Clearly better? Personal Taste. I'm still excited a rpg won game of the year tho.

Well one has a metacritic of 96 and the other a 89. Id say it appears clearly better to me.

If you think games are better becuase Metacritic says it  thats you. I form my own imperssions  from what I see and play and I haven't even said Dark Souls is better.  Metacritic doesn't dictate anything.  Darksouls deserved to be on GoTY list (In my opinion) but just because people like Skyrim doesn't mean Dark Souls is unworthy.

I never said you said that either, but indiviual gamers opinions mean squat. A metacritic score is based on dozens of professional critics reviews, that does mean alot and going by the scores one game looks to be better than the other one easily. Not that Dark Souls score is poor in its own right though.

Thats nice and all, but I still believe the best critic is yourself, I've played tons of games in which game reviewer sites such as GS gave low scores but to me they were higher.

Some examples are Star Ocean 3 (PS2) and Persona 2 Innocent sin (PSP).

To yourself your own opinion is always gonna be most important, Oblivion and Street Fighter IV got great reviews but i think theyre awful. Its things like the metacritic score that affects the sales of games, theres a few games i was gonna get before i checked the metacritic scor, the new Spider-man game for one.

Why don't you post up your 360 GT so i can add you.  I'm sitting at 13k gamerscore right now.

The problem is time spent won't really give a good picture of the amount of the world explored or possible items around or which missions they have done.  I'm at 249 locations discovered and 128 cleared dungeons, 65quests and 201 misc ones completed.   I'm at level 71 on the 360 version right now.

I already play Batman AC, U3, SS, and next week is Skyrim turn.
Even I'm a Zelda Fanboy, its hard to say if SS Motion Control can make Zelda win the GOTY this year.

Well deserved, though I still prefer the Fallout universe so Skyrim is my 2nd favourite game of this gen (obviously Fallout 3 is my favourite one).
