so does the game get better with this extra power? :P

~5-10 seccond load times on my PC (wold be less if I hadn't tweaked my ini files to increase draw distance and preloading or I had an SSD) vs the ~30-60 seccond load times on consoles plus the ability to see furthur in the distance and framerate is usally ~40fps vs sub 30 on consoles.

Yup I think that extra power makes a big difference to the game even without mods.

It's more like 5-15 sec going in and out buildings. Only fast travel takes up to 30 sec, and the initial load can take longer then 30 sec. Faster loading times are always appreciated though, as well as being able to choose your own graphical preferences.

just timed it with a stop watch, initial load from main menue 18.41 secconds (out in Skyrim, into my save in a dugeon = 11.71), Windhelm to whiterun 10.07, into the Smith 4.64 secconds. Settings turned to 11 (ini tweaks) ultra. Not sure whats the problem with your system mine's nothing special, do you have the 4GB loader and the multicore tweaks?

do not want what exactly?

I came here looking to be blown away.  I wasn't.  At all.  For those that build up the PC to be the place that has the BEST graphical experience out there, this video should be buried.

Erm mine is a ps3. It's not 30-60 seconds but it does get on my nerves with extended fetch quests. Why load outside the dark brotherhood first for example instead of straight inside.

Yeah! That's the settings I used to play it too!

It truly is a gorgeous game!

Oh I get it now, lol my mistake I assumd you had the game on PC and were saying your load times were longer. I got the load times for consoles from lens of truth so I guess I should have known not to trust them...

It's the mods that make it better.  Actually, the extra power does too now that I think about.  60fps or more vs 30fps or less sure makes a difference trying to shoot something fast moving with an arrow or magic.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

Yeah but the issue isn't PC power but the SKyrim engine.  It's actually still quite weak and only supports DX9 effects in line with consoles.  If anything Skyrim is a perfect candidate for the "consoles holding back game engine advancement" arguement.

TBH as well, I have Skyrim on console and PC and playing on PC at 60fps with much better resolution sure looks a lot better - and I mean a real comparison as in when you hook the PC to your TV to compare the image on a 46 inch TV.

But... Skyrim should look better, and I'm actually a bit dissapointed with the engine.  It's better than Oblivion for sure, but it's more of a .5 improvement than a 2.0 improvement.
