Would you care if you did not use cash anymore?

Yes 29 67.44%

NO 14 32.56%

Total:43

however there is a big pushback now as people are getting charged like crazy for their debit cards.

I would be wary of such reports, I remember back in the early 2000's the bank branch will become useless.

I go to the bank every week on Saturday or Sunday and there is always a big line of people.

Hmm... I'd not like paying my 60 cent flea market find with a cash/credit card. Or get a toy out of a Gashapon machine without a coin. Or visit a temple (I live in Japan, btw) and leave my donation via online payment. Etc. Etc...
And think of all the beggars in the streets. They'd have to buy card terminals to ask people for their money.

Let's face it. Cash won't go anywhere any time soon, and those who think otherwise are... well... I don't want to use a harsh word, so think it up for yourself. :P

Need something off Play-Asia? http://www.play-asia.com/

Who needs paper money anyway!

Cashless means your money is 100% tracable, There is a large portion of society that certainly do not want every cent they receive traced, and no it is not just hardened criminals. tradesmen, butchers, farmers, contractors and a thousand other types of small businesses will always prefer cash as it gives them the control of how much and when to declare there income to the government. cash is not going away anytime soon.

I can picture a lot of people who have their own businesses don't want to go with no cash, as they might not report everything to the government when doing their taxes.

I dunno.

I question how some areas of society would work without cash.

Like the homeless. What are they going to get all credit card sweepers?

Or for that matter, illegal aliens.

I'm a cash person ...

From what I have experienced, what I have seen, and what I have read cash people (generally) have a much easier time maintaining a budget than people who use debit or credit heavily. There are (probably) lots of reasons for this, but I suspect one of the main ones is the immediate feedback you get about how quickly you're spending the money every time you buy something if you use cash; whereas, when you use debit or credit, since you don't have any feedback on how much money you're spending in a day/week relative to what you budgeted for you can easily ignore the budget.

I could be wrong but I suspect that as digital money replaces physical money we will move to a society where the norm is being as financially irresponsible as some of the worst people are today.

hmmm... I know some places where I would like to swip my CC..

anyway.. when I worked in Hong Kong you have this amazing (anomynous) plastic card for getting into the Metro, Bus, paying for parking space, toll ports,  paying at the seven eleven and other supermarkets, mcdonalds, food and drinks machines, etc and pay by putting your card on a reader.. you just charge it up (at a machine with your bankcard or also with bills) and it acts like cash.. really convienent and I really miss it back in the Netherlands
