Forums - Sales - Black Friday anecdotal evidence thread

Some need to realise that just because one item is sold out doesn't mean it's making a killing. You could find Item A everywhere but Item B is nowhere to be found. If Item B had like 100 in stock but Item A had like 500, Item A could've sold like 400 units while Item B won't have sold more than 100 units.

Anecdotal evidence is still anecdotal and shouldn't be viewed as evidence. Still it's nice to have feedbacks. I saw some places here in Montreal they try to have Black Friday deals but the way they market this "Vendredi Noir"... really?

Well it's the word for word translation of Black Friday. Since the name comes from the fact that retailers are turning a profit or "are in the black", I'd say it still fits in French too.

Yea I know it's the word for word translation but still... I'm a native french speaker and Vendredi Noir doesn't fit at all. Sometimes they'd better come up with a custom name or leave it in english. Just like they kept Boxing Day in english... anyway I don't want to derail the thread.

So noone has seen any Wii's sold?????

I heard in a different site, the Blue Wii $99 at Walmart did a killing.

They certainly sold out of them. The real question is just 1 deal at 1 store chain do that much damage.  How many did each store have to sell.  I also really think what will be interesting to see is what are the deals that start Sunday for next week. So far all we have is Target selling the 250GB Kinect Bundle for $299.99  and the PS3 Move bundle for $299.99

that one store has ovet 3700 stores in the US. The Wii and Kinect was made for timeslike this, I expect major numbers. We need a black friday prediction thread.

Yes we know that, but if each store had 25 units to sell (Walmart in Little Rock AK where I am visiting had 12 last night when I stopped by) that is still less than 100,000 units sold.

Its libraries that sell systems not a single game.

Yes it is, but with PS3 and 360 on sales with real nice deals at nearly every store (including Walmart) I feel Wii will be 3rd this week.

Fuck. Really? Why would be do that in an ANECDOTAL THREAD? What's the point? People are just saying what they see. Really. WTF?

Are people really coming in here just to shit on the thread? Can we report people for shitting up the thread, including someone who's a games db admin or whatever? That's ridiculous.

you should probably let it go Usually when someone calls out someone else for derailing, trolling etc. they end up getting banned themselves. Rather just report it if you feel its bad enough. Although seece is a pretty experienced guy and knows how to say things in such a way not to get banned, so dont waste your time worrying about him, just ignore

This post made me lol

I won't lie, I saw tons of 360s being sold but just ask much PS3s being sold as well, but for some reason people were buying the PS3s in bulk [2-4 per person]. Have no idea why it was like this but I feel like the PS3 wont be as far behind the 360 as it was last year. [if my local stores are anything to go by]

Just glad I picked up my Zelda 3DS. ^__^

I'm sure some were for presents for family members, but a lot were probably for Ebay.  That's what I did.  Couldn't get the $199 bundle at any store I went to since they were sold out, but I was lucky enough to get a hold of one from Amazon just before they sold out again.  So as soon as I get it that baby it's going to go on Ebay, bidding starting at $249.99, but who who knows what it will finally go for when the bidding is over.

I really have a hard time believing the PS3 outselling the Wii on Black Friday. I see 360 doing crazy, Wii not too far , PS3 Hanging tough.

Got myself a high-end PC for $700 on Newegg. Pretty good deal since it was a pre-built PC. Wouldn't cost me a lot more to build it myself.

Also got myself a Sony Home Theater in a box type of thing from Amazon. Finally upgrading from my normal TV audio :D

Hmm last year Wii did 600k, PS3 did 440k in 09 (It did outsell 360 that year, apologies to Themeintial or however you spell your name) so it's defo possible if demand is similar to 09 levels. Wii deals are barren this year except for the walmart $99 Wii deal.
