It depends, but I believe everyone should get a Wii for Mario, Zelda and the like at the current, dirt cheap price. Likewise, people who own just Nintendo should get a HD console for similar reasons.

Probably not, not to mention that next gen I will definitely be doing thing differently.
I bought a Wii first, then a PS3. I bought the 360 in February 2008 along with Lost Odyssey because the PS3 sucked big time with JRPG support, although I don't know why they did that, especially since I always found them to be the PS1&2's bread and butter.
However, as time went by it seemed that MS no longer cared about gamers like me and opted to no longer pursue japanese gaming heavily as they once did. I remember the days of people on this site saying things like "360 is the JRPG King!", "No other console this gen will top 360 in the RPG department", etc... and at that time it looked like they would be right.
So next gen I am playing the waiting game. Only getting a Vita at launch because my fiancee decided to surprise me by paying off a pre-order for me as an anniversary gift. If not for that I probably would have waited until late 2012 or early 2013.
Will almost definitely get a PS4, but after a see what direction they are going with the games. If they start out next gen like they did this one, count me out until they get their shit together. No more dropping hundreds of dollars and having little to nothing to play. First couple of years were terrible, especially for something that costed $600. I just hope they do it right next gen and I also hope they keep it up with the constant creation of new IPs, unique gameplay experiences and support for the niche gamer. In the end it has been this company that has provided me with the experiences I am looking for.
Still on the fence with the Wii U, even though at first I was so excited. Probably because I am now getting a Vita next year, not to mention I still know little to nothing about the Wii U.
As for Microsoft, I am not sure if I will pursue them at all next gen. Not sure about everyone else, but last thing I want is a console with just 4 exclusive franchises that get yearly installations. Not much in the way of variety when it comes to the 1st party titles. Whether multiplatforms sell better on the console or if the textures are better looking when you stop and zoom up close means absolutely nothing. In the end it comes down to 1st party variety for me and sadly this is where I find MS to be lacking, unless of course you are a fan of shooters or racers.
Anyways, that's it for my rant, lol.
iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.
Currently playing:
Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

I would have bought the wii and the 360 LONG AGO if i had the money
I intend to pick a Wii up for Skyward Sword, that in addition to a few other ninty exclusives already make it a good buy.
I've had a PS3 since Dec 07. Just got a Wii about 2 weeks ago with Brawl. This had nothing to do with the console wars or the gen ending though. Brawl is just really popular at my college game room. I really enjoyed it there even though I sucked and the game was horribly unbalanced. I wanted to play at home and online with friends so I got a Wii to do so.
Plan to try Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword at some point. One of my friends said that they would lend me the Mario Galaxies if I wanted so I'll probably do that to.

You see I am probably the only person who played Mario and didn't like it, and also who has never played Zelda :L, and I don't intend to start now, I won't have the nostalgia goggles that many people have on - after all they grew up playing those games much like I grew up playing games like Command and Conquer, Counter Strike and Crash.
Disconnect and self destruct, one bullet a time.

Im mainly Xbox but as this generation went on I wanted to get a PS3 for the exclusives. I bought a PS3 last year but it turned out that I didn't care much for the exclusives and I could have lived without them. I am very happy that I got to play Demon's Souls and God of War 3 was fun. (I think the exclusive games on Xbox 360 are mediocre too expect for Alan Wake).
As for the Wii there's a few exclusive games I'd like to play but I dislike motion controls.
