Forums - Sony Discussion - Uncharted 3 My impressions.

WARNING: My impressions are not good if you are a massive uncharted fan please leve this tread now or continue at your own risk!

After playing this game for quite a while i came to realise that uncharted just wasnt for me. It was also a massve let down for me personally. I never really did like Uncharted 1 or 2 but my friends convinced me Uncharted 3 was a massive improvement and from watching video reviews, gameplay etc i really did think that i could get into this game. I was wrong, VERY WRONG.

After playing for some time i became bored of the gameplay which was very repetative with a few action scenes. It was taken overmainly by the cinematics which are badly placed and in some cases unnessecary. The few firefights you do get into are short lived and there has been no real innovation in these firefights as the guns seem to have been copied and pasted from U2 and the enemy AI stupid often taking little or no cover the only really good bit too the fights are some new meele combat moves. The graphics in U3 are good but they were way too overratted in the advertisement campaign and genral hype before release.Another big dissopointment for me was that Naughty Dog had spent soo much time on creating big maps, scenary etc yet the game is very linear, the enviroments just havent been utilised atall and are just a waste of space and procesing power on the PS3's behalf. The game seems to be quite glitchy at points as the PS3 is using soo much of its processing power to run a game that has soo mch extra content that isnt used making it seem the same as its predecesors in that it really doesnt use all its got and really forfill its potential.  Another thing that i found annoying was that i couldnt jump out crouch when out of cover, this removed realism from the gameplay (a key aspect of the Uncharted series) and is an example of sheer lazieness on naughty dogs behalf. The game seems confused as it is trying to be too many genres at once (TPS, puzle action/adventure etc etc) and although for some games this may work well the execution of it in Uncharted is poor to say the least.

theres also online which i will only talk briefly about. It has too much lag (probably due to proccesiing power again) and yet again doesnt utilise features of the campaign (or that should be in the campaign) that could really boost the experiance. I want to wlk around in crouched position bieng all comando and to be able to jump around, lie down to dodge a sniper but uncharted online isnt really that good anyway. It just isnt fun yeah there are some pretty cool maps (who doesnt want to fight on a plane) but again there isnt much enviromental interaction and just general lameness feel to the online play.

On whole Uncharted 3 hasnt really moved on from the gameplay stlyes of 1 and 2 the only noticable improvemnt is in the graphics which arent all they promised to be.In my opinion  Naughty Dog are a very good company but it seems to me they are wasting talent on streching out a game series that seems to have no real future :( i wish they would just make a new IP!

I got the game 3 days ago and gave it to my friend hassan at school today ( for free may i add)  because i really just didnt like it and it was a waste of shelf space that i personally felt i could fill with much better games.

Well everyone has different opinions, especially odd ones that most people may shun.

They're wasting talent on a series that has no future but yet it's a multi million selling franchise. That's quite interesting.

If you didn't like 1 or 2 why on earth would you play 3?

They only seem to be pushing it forward because they know it will sell bit like COD does. that was my point

My advice; next time, don't listen to them. If you didn't like 1 AND 2 of something, chances are 3 won't be your bag. I can understand trying 2 after not liking 1 but trying 3 is just confusing. My advice: stay away from 4 if/when it comes out.
