Oh please.

One word......Japan.

Yes Xbox launched a year sooner, but Sony has Japan working in their favor this whole time. The fact that MS held on and still are without Japan helping them is just embarassing for Sony,

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

There is an element of embarassment that sony fell so short this gen but the ps3 comeback is also embarassing for MS. The xbox360 is a console that was sincredibly strong at launch (even with RROD) and had a very sizeable lead on the ps3 for quite a while. Yet from a lead of millions in EMEAA initially, the xbox has fallen millions of sales behind ps3. The slim and price cuts paid a huge part in this, but it says something about the disconnect between MS and the EMEAA region in particular that the xbox wasnt able to capitalise on all the success it initially has had.

this is a subliminal comment!

for the "who still cares" people

Microsoft cares, that's who. They said it as clear as day that their main goal was to outsell the PlayStation 3 this generation so that's all that matters :)

and to the "embarassing Japan working in Sony's favor this whole time" people

well the EXACT same could be said about America working in Microsoft's favor

DERP

it will, it doesn't matter, PS3 will be better suported then 360 after the 7th gen is over, and last but not least nobody cares anymore, but i do want it to happen.

doesn't mean i care though.

Sony doesnt even care about the PS3 getting more sales than the 360.If they really cared they would try harder to surpass it.This gen is most likely the best gen for exclusive games and I am so happy that Sony actually gave us this many AAA quality exclusives.I hope the PS4 gives us much more.

yeah they make more money out of software sales than hardware, all the component on PS3 are not in house, but they get their shares from Bluray and mostly from first party games

Wrong.

PS3 fanboys care and they always have. To them, taking 2nd place will allow them some form of weight being lifted off their shoulders. Priding themselves on having the opinion supported by the majority for 2 generations, the PS3 overtaking the 360 will validate their core beliefs. On the plus side they won't be so anal about the 360 once their sensitivity dies down :)

Also, the difference is that Sony has a decent presence in NA where as MS doesn't have one in Japan.

Your point would be correct if PS3 sold as bad in NA as 360 did in Japan.

I don't see how having large marketshare in such a small nation equals embarassment .

Yeah, all fanboys are idiots, that's why they're called fanboys. Luckily, smart people usually refrain from using idiots in their argument unless they're fairly relevant to the topic at hand.

Wow does it even matter anymore? I mean the 360 was a success despite the RROD and the PS3 being a superior console even if that superior part didn't show up in the games. Anyway the 360 will probably get a massive price drop soon probably $100 sometime next year. So that alone will put off the PS3 passing the 360 until 2013 but by then next gen will be inbound and everybody will forget about PS3 and 360. Honestly i think it is impressive that MS has been able to enter the market when Sony was the dominate player in the market. Now look MS and Sony are going blow for blow this generation and will probably continue into the foreseeable future. Oh and the fact that 360 is 299 in USA and the PS3 is 249 i guess it shows that Americans weren't buying 360 because it was cheaper they just like it better than playstation.

hasn't there been a 360 at $200 for a while now?
