Forums - Microsoft - 'Xbox Ten' to be announced at CES 2012?

interresting. not sure about a 20112 launch but its possible. i guess 360 will be the next PS2 and Wii killing all first party(lets face it neither console really had any)support in favor of there next gen counterparts.

well i may be jumping the gun on 360 as it may see more kinect shovelware. IMHO.

I think 2012 is too early, I find it very unlikely that they would release the console in under a year from announcement, and we would have heard more leaks about games in development for it if that were the case. There is a decent chance of it being announced, but I think March 2013 at the earliest for its launch, to ensure that by Christmas, they can definitely have CoD, Halo and Forza (as well as something from the Gears team probably)

I dont think it will launch in 2012, not possible.
Must likely fall 2013 with PS4 releasing in 2014 so 360 will still have 1 year advantge. But really the only reason PS3 didnt cut the lead right away was price so things can change with PS4.

No not a chance leaked info months ago stated Sony's PS4 was going to be launched within 18 months. Other reports have supported that idea claiming that Sony increased R&D by a huge amount and that dev kits were already making their way to developers. A 2013 release date is the latest possible for Sony.

Microsoft launched first with 360 and said that it was their strategy to be the first on the market. This strategy had amazing results and with WiiU announced for fall 2012 Microsoft isn't about to give them a year head start. Plus we know that development of next generation software began in 2008. Hardware for the next Xbox was already deep in development for software to begin.

With dev kits all but confirmed to be in developers hands their is no way Microsoft will be waiting long to release the Nex-Box. Release in 2012 is very very likely and it is in their best interest!

I doubt it, but we'll see.

really, really hope so.

Steal a march on the competition again and drive some sales... they can get a massive potential lead this time, not just the 5m lead they had last time.

thats fantasy land,you're in.Jst joking

you really think MS can jst do anything with the imperding global financial crisis incoming?

also you think there competitors have nothing?

plus they don't have a good ecosystem ready

it isnt fantasy land at all.

MS can reduce the price of the 360 and remain borderline proftable in that division.  Launching a nextbox soon when there is no way sony can afford to do so for at least 2 years would be a perfect move.  And actually yes.... Sony have nothing left.  They have nothing left to play with.. nothing.  Their financials are dire, much more dire than people seem to realise.

Nothing about that is fanciful in the slightest.

lol

Bring it!

Doesn't the Wii U release during the Holidays 2012 as well?

I hope this is true though.

Nintendo doesn't count as competition. Either they go their own way or they get crushed badly. In both cases they don't really compete.

I should have known that.

I wasn't expecting an unveil until E3 (for MS and Sony), but CES would certainly allow them a little more of a spotlight, especially if they hope for a 2012 release and know as year moves on many leaks will come out anyways as there has to be 3rd parties already developing stuff... or at least preliminary hardware to test fully and upgraded ports on similar to WiiU.
