I think what you missed from his post is that he was trying to prove the opposite of what he said, and it was sarcasm. What I'm sure he appreciated though is that I was able to put myself in the eyes of a person from the opposite viewpoint and admit that I could not possibly bear it, and that I could understand their grief.

@bold. As for you, I don't know how much more I can tolerate the hate you spew at me. Up to now, you are clearly the hater by excellence in this thread. I don't say this to put you down, rather I want you to understand that everything you accuse the church of doing, you are doing it tenfold. Let it serve as a testimony that it is better to look at the log that's in your eye rather than the speck that is in the eye of your neighbor.

Rather, since you seem motivated, I would want you to make a list of all the things I said to you that were directly insulting (of which I've changed attitude), and list all the things you said, and compare. I have a feeling you'll be in for a nice surprise.

I recognize where I've been insulting, and yes it's my bad. What I find incredible is that you don't see your shortcomings, and that leads me to believe you're just as bad as everyone you're accusing.

Only half right.  Yes it's humbling and noble to admit mistakes and accept defeat, but he's not a great guy.  Nobody with his ideals could be considered great in this day and age. 

And replaced with what?  You would suggest that society be totally tempered and generate its values out of a consumerist driven economy where corporations pander to every base desire, and the only thing that informs the process is the base wants of individuals?  In short, throw out religion and replace it with the Home Shopping Network?

Historically, you have seen for centuries banking interests and public debt funding wars.  To ignore these elements is to be short-sighted and not be able to see an effective solution to problems.

Its easy to poke holes but harder to come up with a acceptable alternative. Id take home shopping network over religious inspired genocides any day.
