57% of Guyana is christian. In Africa the majority of people who have AIDS are heterosexual. Also, Guyana is in South America, not Africa.

That part doesn't actually matter.  In general leaders in both Africa and South America have used homosexuals as a giant scapegoat for aids.

Wow that's some ignorant ass shit to say. Guyana is only 50% Christian, 35% Hindu and 10% muslim. So yeah there's a 50/50 chance they were Christian but they could have been Hindu or Muslim just as easily. 

But what's religion have to do with this? Its just some crazy ass mom. Not everything anti-gay is due to religious reasons. I personally am against homosexuality but not because of religion. 

Time to open another can of debate. Why are you against homosexuality? 


Just personal reasons dude, I find it unnatural. I'm not even religious, and if I ran a country I'd still legalize gay marriage (no point stopping it)...I just personally am against it. I just don't think we're designed to be with the same sex, whether you believe in creation or evolution you should agree with that.

I was raised in a Christian family but I can tell you I'm not a Christian. I don't go to church and I don't believe the bible. I just couldn't think of a better word to use than designed.

Lol, no if it were Christians it wouldn't be reported at all.  Remember, Christians are part of some vast conspiracy to blame all our problems on the gays and Muslims.  If we commit crimes, we make sure the reporters are bribed to not report on the matter.  Or we make the police throw a turban on the culprit and we call him a Muslim.  If only we were better at it.

Here a little story about me: I came in Kindergarten when I was 5. I was 6 years old when a pair of twin sisters from marokko came into my group. We played a lot together. I played with them in the puppet section. They had like a wooden house there with a small kitchen and a basket full of puppets. I cant exactly remember what we used to play there but I remember this: We played one day mother father and child. I was the father and those two where child and mother. I dont know all the details its been a long time ago but in the end we all had our pants down they played with my penis and I with their vaginas I even made them sit on my lap because it felt good. After we were quite for so long a teacher took a look in that wooden house to see if we were fine. They yelled at me ofcourse since I was the male and responsible for everything. I became "Puppeneckenverbot" which meant I was never allowed again in the corner with the dolls where the girls mostly hung out.

I especially wasnt allowed to go near the wooden house and was watched when I was playing with girls. I didnt realize what I did wrong by the time. Also the girls were as curious as me. I came from a good family never saw any pornographic pictures and TV was strictly limited to Saturday and Sunday morning cartoon time.

Years later I realized what I have done (In a katholic kindergarten with nuns to look after the kids!). I wasnt christian though.

This was the closest I was to getting some twin action in my life. What I am saying is that girls and boys start to play with their genitals very soon. Some do some not it all depends how quick you realize that its fun.

Well first of all, I don't think we are "designed". And sure it's biologically normal for some animals in a species to be with the same sex. (many different animals can be gay aswell) No contradiction in evolution there, so no, I don't agree. I just don't understand how you can be "agaisnt" it, isn't that like saying you're agaisnt a particular race? Because, and there's no debate about this, you can't choose your sexuality. 

I don't think being against homosexuality is the same as being against a race. Races are just a social construct, there is no actual biological difference between whites, blacks, asians, etc...it's just a made up idea created by societies. 

Homosexuality on the other hand is a very real thing, not just some social construct or whatever. So I do think you can be against it. And just because they are born that way doesn't make it right...to give an extreme example just look at serial killers, I'm sure they didn't just one day decide to go kill 20 people, they were born psycho and have something mentally wrong with them. I'm not comparing gayness to murder, I'm just making the point that you can be against it and that being born that way doesn't make it right. 

Ok, most serial killers aren't born that way, it's usually because of neglect or abuse when they were younger, but I see your overall point. So what doesn't make it "right" then? I mean, we've established that they don't choose to be Homo or Bi, and it's not hurting anyone right? (Apart from relationship problems ofcourse, but that's obviously the same with heteros)

Outside that... being Guyana it could really be ANY religion.  Anti-gay sentiment in Africa really doesn't have a religious base and is more culturally viewed as wrong.

Doh, I confused it with Ghana.  Regardless, it's only like 57% Christian and south america where homophobia is rampant against in all circles, again partly due to aids.

OK, I have half read the thread, I'll read the rest later (I know).

Just thought I would throw this out there. Guyana has significantly fewer Christians than the UK, for example. If this happened in the UK, would people assume it was due to Christian fundamentalism because >70% of the population are Christian?
