Great shipment numbers but as a whole the company is in deep shit. Going from forecasting profit to then losing over a billion does not make investors confident. Shares down another 6% already.

What i think is more worrying is that they are now strugling to pay back its debts. Obviously if you post consecutive billion loses then that money has to come from somewhere. It has to be paid.
Right now would be the best time for someone to buy them out.
The sad thing is you can only see it getting worse. Especially if vita bombs. Look what happened to Nintendos numbers after a failed handheld launch. If that happens to Sony then they will be in dire straits.

So great numbers but to put it into context for the 15m ps3s sold this year Sony lost as a company a million for each sold. They are losing over 3m a day. No company can keep going that way before it hits the fan.

Don't worry about all that losses, only shipped numbers are important to the real fans.

The Sony FY reports seem to bring out the most drama on this site.

It's the one year anniversary since the VGChartz Epic Meltdowns of 2010.

This time, I don't forsee so many stuffing the channels, overshipping, and lying on their financials claims.

but you thought you'd try to start some bad feeling and arguments anyway....was it even neccessary to bring that up?

this site is alive today due to large adjustments across the board and sony are the last to report.

Many were expecting Sony to drop out of the gaming division and some were cheering for that.

It's also like how many people (myself included) thought that Kinect would be a flop.

Sony shipped 3.7M PS3s?! LIES!! ALL LIES!! Sony is lieing! Dey overshipped and are stuffing the channel once again!!

still trying to wind people up?

why would anyone start shouting about over shipping when they have shipped about 5 days more supply than was predicted by most here....

200k extra is less than what the PS3 is currently selling in a week.

Lighten up, man.  It's just a little humor.

I forgot, Internet is Serious Business Day and Day Out.

"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY."  --Hermann Goering, leading Nazi party member, at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials

Conservatives:  Pushing for a small enough government to be a guest in your living room, or even better - your uterus.

Nice shipment numbers for the PS3,keep it up Sony ^^.

On that note, We need to prepare the grand entrance for NJ5 to show up (usually does when Sony is having financial difficulties).

Why is it troubling to some and joyful to others when Sony will report their quarterly loss? Is it really a surprise that every Japanese company that has been radiated in Japan/flooded in Thailand/currency-exchange-derated (if such a word even existed) in the past months posts a heavy loss this time of the year?

I guess they like to see the companies they hate make a loss.  Most people don't think about the fact that it's not the people up top that are as affected as the regular families putting food on the table that suffer the most from these losses when jobs have to be cut.  That's one of my other qualms when fanboys want one of the big three to pull out of the industry.  Many people are making a living trying to feed families.

as much as i see your post  i mainly remember you by your name but i will remember this post as it should be not just ever gamer but every decent person that has ever lived and will live way of thinking in life.

feed your families people rise above the hate!

i hope to see Sony profit next yr., or there outlook for the future is bleak.

With Japanese companies in such a breakdown the gaming markert will need Apple or Google to step in and face Microsoft.

Wow they've been doing great. Even for the time of the year 1.5 million consoles on shelves seems on the high side to me, especially considering all the other consoles and handheld's only have around 800k sales.

Its all over, sony is finished

Ask me about being an elitist jerk

Time for hype

sony have been bleeding money for years now and they're still here! get over it people!!
