the WiiU is not even close to twice as powerful as the PS3. so no.. once again with will be Playstation/Bbox as the power systems while the WiiU will be last gen tech. same as what happened with Wii :)

All indications from devs and what we know from the confirmed details 2x the PS3 is likely, possibly more by the time that hardware is final. Sorry to break it to you but the PS3 is not some mystical alien tech box and in 2012 2* more powerful is extreamly conservative. Plenty of devs have said they managed to get multiplatform games up and running at PS360 level in a few months keep in mind that the PS360 versions have had years for developers to optomise for those platforms. The exta RAM alone will be huge for performance let alone the 3+ generation newer GPU and Power 7 CPU.

They are not going to go x86 that is for sure, it will be a new Cell with 4PPU (with updated instruction set etc) 32SPU @ 3.2 Ghz+ or a new custom 8 core Power 7 chip @ 4-5Ghz.

They will not use such an old GPU architecture as Femi, they will use a custom Kepler (up to 4* the performance of Fermi with the same die size and power usage) bassed chip. They may (according to rumours) consider going for an AMD Blackcomb bassed GPU as recently they have been putting out GPUs that give better performance per watt which is very important for consoles.

RAM will likely be 4GB system RAM 2GB VRAM

Wouldn't 4-5ghz get too hot? Not so sure about sony going with AMD, they have a great relationship with nvidia apparantly, but I'm not as informed as you are. And yeah, I meant shared ram for 4gb, wasn't sure for vram :)


maybe the 5 is a bit high but Power 7 is a very high clocking architecture and that is at 45nm by 2013/14 that will be below 28nm and have several of the advanced specialist components like the currency units that wouldn't be needed in a console CPU and 4GHz+ is likely.

Improved system based on Cell or Cell-like architecture to ease the porting of ps3 game engines, faster BD player. No more than 1 GB VRAM and 1 GB system RAM. No later than Christmas 2013, I find possible a Christmas 2012 launch in Japan with an announcement after Christmas 2011 to not hinder ps3 sales.
Naughty Dog, Guerrilla Games and PD could launch their next games for ps4 in 2013, given a Cell-based ps4.

I really hope that prediction is wrong. At least the only 1gb of ram part. if consoles want to compete with the processing power of PC's they are going to need a lot more than that

2 gigs of ram? No way dude it's gonna need at least 4. I know it's a dedicated system but it's gonna need more than 2 if it wants to get to achieve a significant leap in graphics. 2gb would be a huge bottleneck.

it will be PS4 for sure, even if Japan belivevs 4 is an unlucky number in the country NA/Europe will 100% brand the thing as PS4. 

i would hate it if they dropped the numbers, i really dont like the name PSVita but i would have also hated PSP2 lol NGP was better!

I'm sorry, I am in a weired mood today and it's like 2 A.M. 

But if you were fully aware you would know that the Wii U is likely 2* more powerful than the PS3 and that, that is a puny jump in the scheme of things and something Sony would not do.
