Since we know nothing about the PS4, it would be a good time to start making predictions, so that once we have all the info we can refer back to this thread and see who was the closest. You can answer as many or as few as the points below as you like.

I hope that Sony would have learnt some lessons from the mistakes of the PS3:

I think a £300 max pricetag ($399) would be acceptable, anything lower would be a bonus.
They need to sort out the RAM issue they had with the PS3, making a lump amount accessable by both the CPU and GPU and have this at least 2GB. I would hope they will use a multi-cell CPU to keep R&D costs down since this would be simple enough but give huge increases in the processing power (and also allow for PS3 BC on all units ).

As for the GPU i think they will go further than the Wii U but i dont think there will be the same graphical jump that there was from PS2 to PS3 but it will be more of a refinement, i.e. all games native 1080p and >60fps etc.

Well it would be a bad move to shift away from the naming system they've used brand awareness is key and the PS4 is the way to go really

They can't release a console at £450 again the price was way too high to be affordable to a mass market a £300 - £350 price point would set them up much better assuming the Nextbox launches around a similar price point a price match would set them up for a flying start!

In terms of power i can't see them making a jump like DVD - Blu-Ray there is no need at this moment in time and with Blu-Ray in it's infancy still it would be a stupid move to say the least an upgraded drive is a must though the read speeds need to be cranked up. i can see the Cell making a return in an updated form possibly a 16SPE core at 3.2ghz that should be more than enough. The graphics chip needs kicking into touch i would expect both next gen platforms to run a chip closer to the performance of a Geforce 560 by the time these consoles are looking at coming out the cost should have dropped on the higher performance chips. RAM as much as rumours are pointing to stupidly high amounts such as 10GB plus i can't see it happening i would say 4GB is at the high end of what can be expected!

With the new OS on Vita i think the PS4 will follow suit with that allowing for seamless intigration like what was shown with the WiiU the ever requested cross game chat will make a appearance and a possibility of cross game video chat (wishful thinking) the interface will be better all round but a vast improvement from the XMB i highly doubt it.

Games should be running native 1080p next gen with an upgrade in tech for games to be running sub-hd would be a major let down for most people and 60 frames per second would be a nice bonus!

I have a feeling announcements will be next year with a look at releasing Christmas 2013 although that might be microsoft with Sony annoucing a year later with a similar release date in Japan, NA & Europe coming March 2014

Improved CELL (2 cells?) or i7, both would be at 3-3.4ghz for CPU and nvidia GPU, my guess would be a modified GTX 560 or 570. 4gb of ram. Faster Blu-ray reader + bigger blu-ray discs. This would be significantly more powerful than the WiiU and I predict it to be on par with nextbox.
$450/£350 for premium model.
Games = Plenty of first party and third party titles at launch or close to launch. (learning from vita and ps3)
Revised XMB, improved services and PSN, Dualshock 4 and something similar to kinect or improved Move, or both.

They are not going to go x86 that is for sure, it will be a new Cell with 4PPU (with updated instruction set etc) 32SPU @ 3.2 Ghz+ or a new custom 8 core Power 7 chip @ 4-5Ghz.

They will not use such an old GPU architecture as Femi, they will use a custom Kepler (up to 4* the performance of Fermi with the same die size and power usage) bassed chip. They may (according to rumours) consider going for an AMD Blackcomb bassed GPU as recently they have been putting out GPUs that give better performance per watt which is very important for consoles.

RAM will likely be 4GB system RAM 2GB VRAM

il say E3 2013 we will see it, released 2014 mid to end of year.
Again we will have a graphics war between PS & Xbox but the Playstation 4 will have the better graphics (same as its basically played out this gen)

it will launch with 2 controllers.. 1 Duelshock 4 & some Move sort thing
