Forums - Nintendo - Monster Hunter 3G lacks what made 3 good!

Well it would appear Capcom has announced MH3's biggest selling feature will not be included in 3GS. perhaps the biggest blow to the games ability to sell. Capcom has confirmed that their will be no online play for 3G leaving gamers to play the game completely locally. So the head set coming out which people thought was for MH 3GS turns out you won't be needing it. Capcom has confirmed the game will still have some online capabilities such as the ability to download event quests.

So is this an indication of MH4? Lets hope not is anyone going to still pick this game up now that we know it won't be online. I must say the whole reason I bought MH3 was for online co-op. I have no interest in buying 3G without any online co-op I'm not going over to a friends house every time I want to play.

Anyone else upset at the lack of online co-op or game play?

The portable games have never been online, they're popular because of the gathering like culture they have in Japan with the adhoc parties and such which is why they've always had more content in them. That's why the's such a big difference in who buys the console versions and who buys the portable versions as they aim for different types of social interactions.

Well is not 2 MH games that is releasing soon? Maybe the other one has online?

It's only a big deal here in the West, I really don't see how it is 'the biggest blow to the game's ability to sell', especially for a Japan centred game such as MH.

Also, I wouldn't be surprised if/when the game gets localised, online play is added for the European and/or American versions, considering the popularity of MH3's online. Myself, I loved the online on MH3, since over 200 hours into it, it also forced me to brush up on my foreign language skills as well, which is always a bonus.

EDIT: I forgot about this, but I guess I could always go to that MH centre that Capcom opened up in London back in 2009.

I was wondering that too, however Monster Hunter 4 needs online, at least in the west.

Online was not MH3's biggest selling feature in Japan, its main market. It may actually have been a deterrent for some since online in Japan was Pay to Play.

MH's most important feature for the Japanese market is local multiplayer, and that was missing from MH Tri (except for the Arena only fights).

Now if you look at the West, there Online was probably important, but whether it was the main selling point of the game or not only time will tell.

As to me, I will definitly be getting the game if it comes to the west, with online or without. What is much more important for me is that it will be portable.

Currently Playing: Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Overclocked, Professor Layton and the Curious Village

Anticipating: Xenoblade, The Last Story, Mario Kart 7, Rayman Origins, Zelda SS, Crush3D, Tales of the Abyss 3DS, MGS:Snake Eater 3DS, RE:Revelations, Time Travellers, Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney, Luigi's Mansion 2, MH TriG, DQ Monsters, Heroes of Ruin

I don´t get capcom. They have online play in all of their other 3DS titles (RE: Mercenaries, SSF IV, RE: Revelations), but won´t have it for the title which would benifit the most from it. It saddens me if they don´t add online for the western market because I´m from Sweden and there just aren´t that many Monster Hunter players that live near me.
I played over 300 hours of multiplayer online in Tri and there is just no chance that I would ever play that much if it is local multiplayer only. Be smart Capcom and add online for the western audience!

The title of this thread should be "Monster Hunter 3G has what Tri lacked". I would be more concerned if 3G only had online multiplayer like Tri (arena co-op is lame).

You definitely have shares with nintendo. Monster hunter 3G lacks  online multiplayer!!!!!!! The reason it sells so well in japan is because of the multiplayer. I love the way you refuse to believe that this is not a big issue, instead you say tri was lame because of arena co-op........are you serious????

In all honesty, it is a horrendous blow to the 3ds. If MH4 doesn't have online play.....good luck.

This made me laugh.

Well done.

Your hilariously biased comments also give me a chuckle!
