The difference between 30 fps and 60 is HUGE. Anything higher than that, is still noticable if you try really hard, but probably insignificant. You guys should try playing some older PC games, so you can see what an actual high framerate looks like (We're talking fps in the hundreds), you don't even need a particularly beefed up PC to do it. But, personally, I believe that anyone who says they can't tell the difference between 30 and 60 either has some eyesight problems or simply hasn't played enough 60fps games.

Not exactly your videos but this helps:

At first I was going to say Youtube doesn't show 60FPS only 30FPS, but I noticed it slows down, and shows how different it can be.

I don't think this is a good indicator. As you said, YT only does 30fps. And of course you can see a difference slowing it down, but if you slow down a 1000 vs 900fps video enough you'll also see a difference, it doesn't mean you can see it at normal speed.

Also, as some user has said, even when pausing the image the 30fps image is blurry, so I'm not sure it's a proper test (might it be normal? not an expert on this).

Not saying there isn't a difference to most people, just that I don't think this is a proper proof.

Try the videos you posted in VLC media player, there is clearly a difference.

Yup, I think it's quite evident in most shooters within the space of a few seconds if it's 60fps or 30fps.

Hmmm...

I don't notice a big difference with the first one unless I really try, but the Sega logo one seems clear to me now (dunno why VLC made a difference, but it did).

Perhaps it's as Rol said, you notice more of a difference when you go from 60 to 30fps than the opposite way around.

No troll is too much for me to handle. I rehabilitate trolls, I train people. I am the Troll Whisperer.

I've heard that humans can't notice a difference above 30FPS but it seems that many do notice it clearly, so it must depend on the person.

You heard wrong....Its a popular myth supported by the fact that 25-30 fps is the minimum required to suggest to the brain its seeing movement.

The eye is an analogue device and as such can contrast and compare to some pretty staggering digi equiv numbers.

Its an analogue, organic device designed to process analogue data from an analogue world.

If you cannot see the difference between 30 and 60 fps you need to go and see a doctor or optician. Probably both.

As I said I'm shortsighted and colorblind (I know, it sucks to be me). So I get an altered image anyways. I'll never know what it's like to see things as their meant to be seen. Sigh...

In the 2 videos you provided i did notice the difference in the second Sega video, but not so much in the first monkey ball video

Yeah I do and it's massive.

Just as an example, I've been playing lately in a single GPU so my PC doesn't "RROD", which brings DA2 (the new DLC pack) down to some 35-40 fps on max settings. Since for some reason the game simply doesn't run with Dx11, I'm being forced to play in Dx9, which easily gets 60 fps. The difference is massive - the game simply feels much faster and more fluid. And I didn't even get started in shooters like Bulletstorm...

Honestly, that seems the kind of thread that I expected to arise at the end of this generation, when some if not most console games start playing like 25fps and 600p...

Yes, I can easily see the difference.
As to wether I prefer 60 FPS with worse graphics or 30 FPS with better graphics, it depends on the genre or game.

For a game like Devil May Cry 3, I'd rather have 60 FPS to have more visual feedback and make the controls more responsive than if it was 30 FPS.

For... JRPGS, I'd rather have better graphics at 30 FPS.

The best thing for me would be having both though, but we'll have to wait until next gen unless you count the PC.

I remember playing Wipeout HD alone for a while, then switching to split screen to play with my brother... the framerate looked sooo shitty and it felt harder to play.

It's easy to see the difference in the videos you showed, the difference was more noticeable in the monkey ball video than on the SEGA logo for me.

I wonder what 120 FPS looks like... even though I can play games like DMC4 on PC at higher than 120 FPS, I can't see any difference because my monitor is 60Hz and all I get from a higher framerate is screentearing.

Release Final Fantasy Versus XIII nowwwwwwwwww!!! lol :P

Anyone with a working pair of eyes can tell the difference between 30FPS and 60FPS.
