I remember VH1 did commercials for a show called "I Love the 90s," and they showed similar news stories from the 90s and 2000:

Final Fantasy X - around 2 mln. with 5 mln. PS2 on the launch.

I was compelled to go on purely by how great it is....
Storylines in games are rarely any good and extremely rarely are the main source for compelling you to keep playing, and besides a select few games Nintendo is certainly not the best storyline developer, they play to their strengths and clearly they excel without the storyline.
