You need a reason to not mod your console?

Not everyone want to mod, regardless of how easy or cheap it is. |
I agree with this, and personally I never considered it until I realized Nintendo (of A) had next to nothing coming out this year despite having critically acclaimed games in the bag (Xeno, TLS). They ignored FF4, D:DoC (with good reason actually, yuck), Zangeki, Takt of Magic, Pikmin 2, etc., etc., so I didn't see any chance they'd release Xeno, TLS, PT. So if they weren't going to make the games accessible to me, I'd have to mod and make myself accessible to the games.
Also, with WiiU and 3DS I figured Nintendo wouldn't care about Wii anymore (like how they abandon GC in it's last 18 months) and future modded-Wii bricking updates would be highly unlikely. Now I'm very happy to support NoE who is bringing the games out that I want to play. And NoA will get some $ for Kirby/Zelda still.

Oops it meant to say Note; I see how that one mistake changed the sentence. Lima is a perfect human speciman. I reccomend playing Lost Odyssey. I just completed it yesterday. Although it is far from perfect; it was a great experience.

so are you saying that Ninty of Japan(lets not kid ourselves, they are the parent company) have NO control over what essentially is subdivisions? I dont buy it
The question is not why did NoA not release it here. The question is why did NoE release it.
According to a certain website, Xenoblade has sold 95k copies in EMEAA in eight weeks of release.
That is less than 5M euros of revenue (not profit, gross revenue) from which translation, preparation, production, shipping, and packaging will have to be paid.
For comparison, Just Dance 3 sold 120k copies in the Americas in its first week of release.

PS -- Yes, I want to play this game too. But economics say it is not as big a deal to most people as people here are making it out to be.
I am Mario.I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble. Wii Friend Code: 1624 6601 1126 1492 NNID: Mike_INTV |

Yeah, I agree on how Mistwalker makes games the way the old SquareEnix used to make em. Blue Dragon, despite it's flaws was enjoyable and harken back to simpler times in terms of storyline, gameplay etc. I hate the new SE with their convoluted plots and gameplay schemes!!! Can't wait to play LO as soon as I finish with Batman AC and LoZ:SS it is on my to do list.

If you only look at it in revenue terms for the game itself, then you would be right. But this is one of those titles that help to keep your passionate customers being passionate. Having them is the most powerful marketing tool for a company, because it is not only free advertising, but more effective too. Making decisions that make you lose passionate customers is not good, but making decisions that turn these customers into advocates against your products is even worse. The impact of not releasing Xenoblade and others in America could go far beyond pure revenue numbers for these games. Xenoblade and The Last Story certainly aren't comparable to the likes of Disaster: Day of Crisis and Excitebots. The latter two are pretty forgettable, but those JRPGs are among the best the genre had to offer in the last five years, so losing out on these games is actually going to piss people off and casts huge doubts on Nintendo's promise of being more comitted to the hardcore gamer in the future. |
@rol
my thoughts exactly!!!

i'm with oni...I don't buy it also!!! I demand respect for all of us NA Nintendo fans and I demand them now!!!
A lot of you wouldn't of survived in Europe prior to 3 years ago if 3 games sends you over the wall.

You're missing the point. We are NOT Europe. So, the hypothetical situation does not make sense.
