I agree with this, and personally I never considered it until I realized Nintendo (of A) had next to nothing coming out this year despite having critically acclaimed games in the bag (Xeno, TLS).     They ignored FF4, D:DoC (with good reason actually, yuck), Zangeki, Takt of Magic, Pikmin 2, etc., etc., so I didn't see any chance they'd release Xeno, TLS, PT.   So if they weren't going to make the games accessible to me, I'd have to mod and make myself accessible to the games.

Also, with WiiU and 3DS I figured Nintendo wouldn't care about Wii anymore (like how they abandon GC in it's last 18 months) and future modded-Wii bricking updates would be highly unlikely.  Now I'm very happy to support NoE who is bringing the games out that I want to play.  And NoA will get some $ for Kirby/Zelda still.
