The only FPSs that I liked were the prime games... so I guess everything depends on when/if we get another prime kind of game...

But I know that the moment I swear off shooters Timesplitters 3 will somehow be announced.
Anyway, I essentially swore off shooters a long time ago. The market moved to a dark and scary place where I just couldn't follow.
after dust 514, i am finished with fps. With games like demon's souls around, they make fps games look like childs play.
I've been done with military shooters since 2003, and it only took that long because I've never played them that much to begin with. I just find them to be utterly boring, and none of the advancements that have been made, or will be made in the future will ever change that.

I think you just don't like certain types of games. Because I don't like the shooters your talking about either.
Though I like gears, because I think it is the best pure Third Person Shooting Game. And crysis, because it's so damn pretty on PC, it's got decent gameplay, but it's nice to look at pretty for like 6 hours.
I have an issue with any game that uses first person perspective. I don't know why. I thought Goldeneye on the N64 was ok, but I got sick of it really quickly.
I tried playing Bioshock, because my friends told me it had some great atmosphere and story. Got bored and had to stop. I guess I just have a problem with only seeing the characters hands all the time.
It's a really big problem too, because all of my friends basically have moved on to FPS's now.
Quem disse que a boca é tua?
Qual é, Dadinho...?
Dadinho é o caralho! Meu nome agora é Zé Pequeno!
Games like call of duty and battlefield yes but game that Starbreeze makes (like the Riddick games) can't get enough of it and the next Bioshock is also a must :).
Nah games like Metro Last light, Bioshock infinite, Prey 2 and even Far Cry 3, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 look to awesome to turn down even if I don't get all of them full price because I am poor

naznatips said: At least for a while. That's not to say I won't keep playing what I own. I'm really enjoying Gears 3 online and local, and I still play Black Ops + Bots with friends on the couch. Team Fortress 2 with its addictive loot system can keep me going for a while on PC as well. We even pop in Halo: Reach every once in a while for some four player Infection on custom made maps.... But I think that's it. I have enough. These games are made to be replayed, and that's what I'm going to do. Replay them. I'm not buying more shooters. Certainly not outside of extremely low used costs (under $20) or Steam sales. Frankly, the removal of bots and four player splitscreen from most shooters has dampened the funnest part of the genre for me, which is playing socially with real friends in one room talking trash and getting trashed. Sorry, but online just doesn't make up for that. So, does anyone else feel the same? Edit: To clarify I'm referring to military multiplayer shooters, not hybrid games like Bioshock Infinite, Uncharted 3, RAGE, Half-Life, and Borderlands. These use shooting as a combat mechanic but also feature other combat and gameplay mechancis, such as exploration, customization, and puzzle-solving. |
i agree sort of, i made a similar thread a few weeks ago
my issue with shooters is that i manage a playthrough, get to about 10h mark with online time then the game runs out of steam for me and end up trading of ebaying off, il still play them all but only when i find them cheap pre owned 39.99 new no thanks
the other issue is the price from them drops significantly when trading so its not good value for money, so im done with shooters
other shooter types like mass effect fallout etc are different as they give you lots of play time and replayability
...not much time to post anymore, used to be awesome on here really good fond memories from VGchartz...

I am done with Call of Duty and Battlefield series and mediocre shooters. Gears of War, Uncharted, Half-life, Doom and Halo series are some of my favourite game series of all time.
Technically Mass Effect is a hybrid shooter/RPG. Mass Effect 2 abandoned most of the RPG elements of Mass Effect and was one of the best single player shooter gaming experiences.
