A little over half a million to go! I do love a close race! Now lets all hope that VGC doesn't screw up like the past few X-mas severely undertracking the PS3 while overtracking the Xbox360 to an extent where it sold more than it shipped.

During the last 5 or 6 weeks they undertracked the PS3 by 3,700 and overtracked the 360 by 86,000. So I wouldn't exactly call that "severely undertracking" on the PS3's part.

Like almost everything on this website people overdramatized it.

As I asked thx1139 in another thread, do you have links that show this?  I could have sworn it was by more.  Of course, I could be thinking of another year.

Ask Postofficebuddy cause he was the one that did 5 or 6 weeks of comparisons between the OP of WW sales threads and the the numbers Vgchartz has now.

Here you go. But like I said in that thread, that's just adjustments for December. Look at this for total adjustments.

http://www.vgchartz.com/article/83379/2010-year-on-year-sales-and-market-share-update-to-january-1st/

postofficebuddy,

I dont understand what the last link is trying to show with relation to adjustments.
1. Dont see total yearly adjustments. I have never known VGC making a point that adjustments were made.
2. Adjustments are made all of the time.  The weekly links when numbers 1st come out are compared now with the archive of sales so you can see the adjustments.

If your trying to show that an individual console was adjusted up or down over the year we know that already. It is when they were adjusted.  PS3 and 360 have already had adjustments for weeks during November and December.  The analysis I did was comparing the initial sales to the eventual adjusted sales in the VGC archive.  What we can see is that the PS3 was only adjusted 3,713 for those weeks comparing initial sales report to what is current in the VGC database.

Sure other parts of 2010 could have had adjustments. The question is when? If August sales were adjusted in September and October then it doesnt matter. What is being claimed is that year after year PS3 holiday sales tracking get large adjustments after the beginning of the next year.  Last year that adjustment was 3,713.

Did you look at all of the data in the link then compare it to the database? IIRC the reason the adjustments were so small in December is because the big culprit for the 360 adjustments was in MEAA. And since most countries in that territory don't really have much of a holiday season the overall adjustments there are spread out across the entire year. Obviously the yearly review was made at the start of 2011, so any adjustments from those numbers happened after January 2011. They didn't happen in July or October, or in any other part of 2010. Most of the major adjustments usually occur at the start of the year because that's often when we get updates from Gfk. Data in the link (As of January 7th, 2011):

360 2010 sales (after adjustments): 14,587,502 (13,914,314)
360 LTD sales (after adjustments): 51,234,288 (50,388,641)

Wii 2010 sales (AA): 20,045,266 (18,523,056)
Wii LTD sales (AA): 84,654,195 (82,456,514)

PS3 2010 sales (AA): 14,948,203 (14,943,475)
PS3 LTD sales (AA): 46,241,267 (46,266,104)

Although the yearly review has an odd definition for YTD sales. It includes the last week of 2009. Odd adjustment for PS3. 2010 was adjusted down a smidge, 5k, but lifetime adjusted up 25k.

The ps3 is outselling the x360 in the eu and everywhere in the world besides usa.

Except Americas and UK ...

what will happen if someone call Canadian or Mexcian is American?

That's actually what I don't understand. Why do USA people call themselves simply Americans? Are Mexicans and Canadians not Americans too?

Using this logic... I'm an American too.

Indeed, that's what I meant. You live in America after all. USA citizens refer to USA however as "America". A bit strange

Simple - USA stands for United States of America - so we shorten it to "America". Canada isn't officially named "Canadian States of America" as are any other of the countries in the Americas.

What? Where and since when?

Canada is where America gets beavers from. Once Canada sent a moose by mistake. As retaliation the Americans exported democracy to nuked Toronto, that now is inhabited by mutants and inspired Gecko City in Fallout 2.

What about the french living in Canada?

I wish Microsoft to take the risk and enter more markets in the next generation of consoles, and of course to realize the importance of the European market. (Japan will always be dead for them though)

I though the Xbox had little chance when Star Wars was delayed. Then again, when they didn't match the price cut, then even less of a chance when the new 'talk to the dashboard' update didn't make it out before Thanksgiving.

At Thanksgiving, US Citizens get together and eat turkey and watch TV together. I thought missing that window with the new dashboard cut them out of much free advertising from seeing it in action at friends and family. It also marks the 'official' beginning of the USA shopping holiday season (Which is why they moved thanksgiving from July.)

However, it's amazingly close. It is exciting to see it come down to the finish, and that means next year they can have a price cut and chug along some more. I'm curious to see the x720/ps4, but with things going like they are it might still be a while.

Exciting photo finish!

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

Bunch of communists!!!  BTW, Americans should have nuked Montreal because of that moose, but as she sings in English, they thought she was from elsewhere... And Quebec produces maple syrup, they CAN'T nuke it!

I know this doesn't mean anything towards the overall total -

But how many 360's, on average, will have been sold with the giftcard deals this Year?

Again. Doesn't really matter, just curious. Must have made a big difference.

Two bolded statements = oxymoron.

You know ps3 fans shouldnt be dissapointed with these numbers. Im happy with these numbers... because just think of what sony had go wrong for them this year. Earthquakes, psn hack, im suprised there even leading at this point. So congrats to the ps3 this year i say... whether xbox outsells them or not...

Darth, I worded it wrong

I meant it doesn't change anything in the overall totals. I was tired and hardly thinking.
