Forums - Nintendo - will wii can have call ofduty4 graphics in the end of its lifetime or more?

Well, we could see if it can come close, when they release CoD5 for the Wii, which was confirmed a couple of weeks ago, but most of the graphics on CoD4 was the team doing a lot of bump mapping instead of polygons so basically giving the illusion of a lot of polygons, so maybe if a team like Infinity Ward spent time figuring out the odds and ends of the system it would be a big maybe in my book, cause the graphical capabilities of the Wii is twice the power of the gamecube which was almost the same power as the Xbox, just no one seemed to try to push the system unless it was Nintendo or RE4, they say Wii is only slightly more powerful then the Xbox solely on the fact that no one has tried to push the system past that, they would rather just port everything in sight IE shovelware so don't let anything this first year (including Mario Galaxy) be a sign of what is capable on the system.

@Dno: great way to start off your posting life here. Calling people stupid. For your information, most of us who have Wiis DO, in fact, own one or both other consoles. We are having what is called 'intelligent discussion'. In this 'intelligent discussion', someone asks a question, and we talk about it with respect and intelligence. We were doing this quite nicely until your post.

I'm surprised everyone has remained so civil. Well done all.

The answer is obviously no. It is not technically possible for the wii to have graphics anywhere near the quality of COD4. The difference in pixel-pushing power between the wii and the PS360 is far, FAR greater than that between PS2 and Wii.

Erm... what are you talking about Played_Out? Did you know that PS2 had more pixel-pushing power than GC and XB?

See? That's what I'm referring to with my last post. Most people already put the Wii out of the game without even knowing what it's capable, architecture, etc.

Are all of you trying to say the wii can produce CALL OF DUTY 4 graphics? Do you even know what your talking about? No I dont believe it can run Half life 2, and I dont beleive it can run anything close to gears of war.

@superchunk

There is no logic in porting a wii game to the ps360 because its I dont even know what to say.

 2008 end of year predictions:

PS3: 22M

360: 25M

wii: 40M

@Zack: We're not 'saying' anything. We're just conjecturing. Believe it or don't, it's your choice.

You won't even see as big a leap between early wii games and late wii games as you did with the PS2. Like it's successor, the PS3, the PS2 embodied a "performance over programmability" ethos, and it therefore took many years for programmers to take advantage of its complex architecture. In hardware terms, the wii is very similar to the gamecube, so expect to see similar graphical advancements between games at the start and end of the generation as you did with the GC.

You also seem to forget that PS2 had a lot more developers behind it, the hardware inside of the PS2 was not as powerful as either Xbox or GameCube, yet still had compairable games due to the focus being done on it cause PS2 was their cash cow, on the other hand Xbox programming structure is close to that of a PC and therefore a lot of developers had a lot of experience at pushing those bounds, which 360 is programmed in the same way, but GameCube had its own programming, but due to it falling to 3rd place people didn't focus on getting good at devolping for it, but since Wii is now worldwide market leader you can be sure they're going to spend some time developing for it and getting good at doing it.

The Wii architecture is already very familiar to most devs. Yes, there will be a jump, but I think the 360 and PS3 will see a much larger jump. CoD4 graphics on the Wii? No, not gonna happen, but I expect games to start looking better than SMG.

One thing I would like to demonstrate is the difference between Super Smash Bros. Melee and Super Smash Bros. Brawl

I could be wrong, but I suspect that if we see a similar quality improvement from the best looking Gamecube games to Wii games we should see a drastic improvement over what we're currently seeing from most developers.

what r u smoking
why aren't you sharing LOL!!!!

but the wii will improve graphically. but it won't get 360 and ps3 graphics unless nintendo puts something in the wii so strong the world shakes!

Damn things have changed since 2009 began. Here are my new visions for the end of the generation.

Wii: 135 mil

Ps3: 85 mil

360: 60 mil

this is the stupidest post i have ever read. NO Wii CANNOT and WILL NOT look any better then the gamecube at MAX. what do u think nintendo is giving us crap because they havent "found" the power of the wii? NO WAY. its NOT HD and its a LITTLE stronger then the GC at MAX power.... how are you people even comparing have you ever played 360/ps3 vs the wii?

No one here is saying the Wii will have the same graphics as the PS3 or 360, but to say at max the Wii can do Gamecube level graphics is just ignorant. The Wii is about 2-3 times more powerful than the gamecube. Take a look at SMG and the incredible textures. The detail is incredible. Then look at SMS amd you'll see a complete lack of textures. Textures are what make games really look good and the Wii can accomplish MUCH better textures than the gamecube. But I wouldnt expect you to know any of this seeing as how I'm sure you never owned a Wii or Gamecube
