Forums - Gaming - Battlefield 3 Beta - Impressions

I personally do not think this was the game mode to 'sell' the game, even if it's a Beta not a demo. Running around shooting wasn't working out for me, just got to get used the the aiming. Nice moment when crawling through bushes, hear someone reloading so turned round saw and guy shooting the other way, stabbed him, made it to the device I needed to blow up, planted a bomb, then waited for people to show up to defuse it and shoot them with my pistol. This was fun. But I'm not that best impressed with it.

Hmm, pie.

ITS A BETA PEOPLE!!!

A month is a long time in development. Watch how many patches come out fixing these minor issues and graphics will improve across the board.

Man some of you are confusing demo with beta.....

No,  a month is not a long time in development(time),  and they probably have only a few weeks left before the game has to be gold.

Metro certainly has it's moments of awesome. There were rounds yesterday when I was working my way up with the squad, we were able to keep pushing to and destroying the objectives.

Honestly though, in what little time I was able to play it, Caspian Border is where it's at for the 'battlefield' experience. At least with Metro, the destruction from Bad Company 2 isn't anywhere to be found so I wonder how other maps will go. I believe there was more destruction in Caspian Border as I recall more walls being blown out of buildings in a capture zone.

I really wish they put out a conquest map vs rush. Rush is not BF. Also feel they could have fixed certain things before this beta.

There should be no sound problems... except maybe mic due to higher load on network.
There should be no collision issues.
There should be no balancing issues with guns and insta-kills.
While some of this will definitely be fixed by launch day... an open beta should be a more complete game. More of a workable demo.

And yes a month is a long time. Play for Free was in beta and first week was horrendous. 2nd week was far better and by 4th week it was pretty much perfect. This will be no different. Granted what it will mean is there will be a patch on launch day and that should not be acceptable to me. But, its what most games have been doing recently. Just a bad practice IMO.

I think they should increase the distance and how fast you can throw out health and ammo packs. So many times i have run out of ammo and been unable to find any ammo at all and any weapons i seem to find are sniper rifles on the ground. And yes i'm using the attachment for more ammo.

Why don't your own kills show up on the killfeed aswell. Also why does the HUD move around with your head when you move back and forth.

The timing is a new element to BF series in an attempt to be more realistic... just like all the other animations. Not bad either IMO, just takes time to get used to it.

You kills do show in the middle of your screen right below your target... and I don't understand your last question.

Well, lets see--

  • First, I try to start the game but Origin makes me change my password because it can't handle special characters at the moment
  • After that, the servers are down
  • Once back up, I start the game and get into the lobby but can't find a way to start my controls.
  • While trying to find a way to close the game, I accidently start it.
  • While trying to quit again I find that you can only change your controls while in game.  Dumb fuck stupid.
  • I stand in the complete open trying to get all my keys rebound except I can't bind anything to mouse button 3 (mouse wheel).  Really?
  • Finally start playing, walk forward, die from an unseen shooter.
  • Respawn, walk around to the left near cover, die from an unseen shooter
  • Respawn, see my first other player going into prone.  I remember binding that key so I go in prone.
  • I crawl around for five minutes, die from an unseen shooter.
  • I respawn, go prone, and try the right this time.  I die fom an unseen shooter.
  • I respawn, crawl around prone, manager to make it to a marker!
  • I see a group of people huddled, no idea if they're friend or not; they're not.  They turn around and destroy me.

I hate this game.

best game ever...check it

After playing the beta I find the multiplayer isn't that fun.... I just think this game is too hardcore for me. So I'm only going to purchase it if I can find it for $20 someday for the single player.

Playstation All-Stars is one of the best games I've played this gen, and is the most fun I've had in a game this gen.

Noob raaaaaaaage@@@@@@

:P

This happens sometimes in BC2 as well, and it's all due to teamwork. Your team must have been horrible if you got so easily sniped and killed all those times. As for why you couldn't recognize your enemies from friends... sounds like a personal problem. :P

Just wait until the game comes out before you finish judging it. And remember, teamwork is key. If you get a bad team, of course you'll be screwed. This isn't like CoD where you can be a 1-man-army and your teammates hardly matter to your own personal score.
