I'll just wait for the iPhone 6 next year.

Nah, I'll just wait for next year's model. Don't have enough money to spend on stuff like that.

After several iPods that "wore out" in less than a year, Apple is fairly low on the list of products to look at ...

The two iPods that bothered me the most were the ones where the headphone jack wore out. I owned a Sony sports walkman for (at least) 5 years and plugged the headphones in and out several times a day and the headphone jack was as good as new when I dropped it down the stairs and ended its life; I then replaced that with a Panasonic CD player that also survived more than 5 years with the headphones being plugged in and out several times a day. But I have owned two iPods where the headphone jack wore out in 6 to 9 months from being plugged in before my workout and plugged out after my workout; and the iPod I owned before that had the USB port wear out because I foolishly synced my iPod daily.

I might just be a cynic but I believe that Apple has purposefully designed their products to survive until they release their next model. This wouldn't bother me if they were priced to be disposable products, but when you charge a premium price I expect a premium product.

Nope I have no interest for one.

If I manage to get a job soon then yes I will buy one.

What new about it?

I've favored Android after I gave my 3GS to my brother, iPhone is just not as good for more tech friendly people.

I don't get it. What could it possibly do that is worth the upgrade? I'm a Droid fan and I don't even see the superiority of other Droids over my current phone (Droid 2). I'm lost.

Pretty much the same upgrade features of all new phones.

Hardware:

Dual-core CPUs
Better Screens
4G data
NFC chip for easier and better tracking of purchases
Better cameras (front and back)
etc...

As for software...

Googles 4.0 (merge of all phone and tablet code, google wallet, better video conf, etc)
iOS 5 (better software general, google wallet competitor)

Of course the downside on some of these is the potential for a quicker battery drain. But, that's why some phones offer the very nice ability to force 3G. Hurry up with better battery tech people!!! Portable devices and new cars need it!!

No thanks.

Actually Apple is kind of late releasing the new iPhone. Previously they had released the new version in the June/July area. I'm guessing it was so they could release it at the same time as iOS5. Oh and all companies release new phones every year. If they didn't then they'd fall behind their competition. The Android market is really competitive as there are so many companies making Android phones.

I'd like to get the iPhone 5, but I just bought my iPhone 4 last August and I'm not an upgrade your phone every year type guy. My 4 is serving me nicely. Maybe next year I'll think about a new phone.(iPhone 6?)

Oh and none of the iPads have USB ports so I'm not sure what some poster above was talking about.
