The difference in quality between Gears & Uncharted is not that great. In fact, one could make a valid argument in stating Gears is better.


The games are extremely divergent when it comes to importance of story. The only thing that makes them common is that they are competing for best TPS. I love Gears and don't get me wrong, but Uncharted is an experience. Gears isn't on that level in that way and the multiplayer is growing as the experience deepens. Theres also more room for more Uncharted titles.


Both have pretty average strories IMO. I wouldn't give either a huge advantage in that department. Uncharted is just better at telling it's story than Gears is IMO. The most important thing in both games is gameplay. Both games excel in this department. I can't claim that either game is on another 'level'. Certainly not similar to your COD vs BF comparison.


Uncharted's story is as average as indiana Jones, which in turn isn't average at all. The lady who writes for the game is amazing. Gears of War is another typical reason for war type of game and eventually the war has to end. I would love to see what would happen if Drake found Atlantis. Thats what i wonder when I play that type of game. Haven't you?

the sadest is that Gears 2,5 will sell more than Uncharted 3 althought it will have lowest score, thank you US/UK kid brains...

Who cares about Metacritic's score?  Haven't you seen this video by Adam Sessler?

I wish people cared less about score aggregator sites like Metacritic.  I don't pay them mind, but it still must be difficult for companies to maintain the brand personality of their games when faced with such intimidating (and wrongly tabulated) scores. 

My advice?  Word of mouth from a friend is the best referral.  Or from a trusted reviewer with similar sensibilities to your own.  Heck, even go and watch a Let's Play before trusting a couple of numbers from Metacritic.

Possible, but I think Uncharted has the same problem as Gears of war basically the feeling that we have seen it before and that is going to hurt reviews. I am expecting a lot of Uncharted fanboys going mad because reviews say it is the best Uncharted game but in the end is more of the same and score it lower than the last one.

That's exactly the same thing that's happening now with Gears 3 and happened last year with Halo Reach. Reach is better than Halo 3 in EVERY possible way, but people uses the "more of the same" card and so on.

The problem IMO is that blockbuster games get super high scores, so there is little room for discern a good from a excelent, from a masterpiece game. 

But in-topic, I think there is no way U3 gets lower than 90, only if it has some realy f*** problems. It's is easier to thrash Gears story and narrative and critics don't take much in consideration MP and replayability. So U3 for the metawhore wins.

You never know. Gears 3 is considered the best in the series and it scored lower the the first two. The same could happen with UC3.

wow there is no way gears deserves that! yes the game is simular to the other 2 but it doesn't warrent a 67, the lowest score gears should get is an 8.

 

that score will hurt gears on the metacritic
