That's exactly the same thing that's happening now with Gears 3 and happened last year with Halo Reach. Reach is better than Halo 3 in EVERY possible way, but people uses the "more of the same" card and so on.
The problem IMO is that blockbuster games get super high scores, so there is little room for discern a good from a excelent, from a masterpiece game.
But in-topic, I think there is no way U3 gets lower than 90, only if it has some realy f*** problems. It's is easier to thrash Gears story and narrative and critics don't take much in consideration MP and replayability. So U3 for the metawhore wins.
