^Finally a studio does not go insane over their movies budget. It will be breath of fresh air to finally have a summer movie easily make a profit. Not counting 1-3 movies.

Actually their been a good number of movies that easily made a profit The Devil Inside is probably the best example $1 million dollar budget, with very little advertising and it made over $101 million dollars.  Second best example is Chernobyl Diaries again only a $1 million dollar budget even less advertising and it was only released domestically and it made over $17 million dollars.  Other good examples with slighlty bigger budgets are Project X, Think Like a Man, The Grey, The Woman in Black, The Luck One and The Vow.  As for another summer movie that will easil turn a profit Magic Mike only had a $5 million dollar budget and People Like Us had a modest $16 million dollar budget both those movies should have no problem turing a profit easily.  People Like Us should do it eailsy since its PG-13.

I agree of course^

I was just picturing in my head that the steve carrel. Movie was going to cost much more than that to make. Then I saw the budget and how well it did and was happy. Usually a star like carrel in an end of the world comedy type movie is going to have a sizable budget. But it did not.

I knew project X and chernobyle and a few others would do fine and I knew they had small budgets. So this movie just kind of surprised me.

The only movie that Steve Carell was in that had a out of control budget was Evan Almighty.  But that was a calculated risk because they thought the movie could easily make as much or almost as much as Bruce Almighty.   But that movie really didn't hurt his career that much and every movie he has been in after that has been profitable.

Date night, Virgin, Anchorman, the Ryan Gosling movie, Despicable Me, etc.

He has been pretty successful surprisingly. Evan Almighty, as you said, really was not too bad money wise and it certainly was not a careerbreaker. Bruce Almighty was a hit as well. I think there is some hype for Anchorman 2. It will improve on Anchorman's gross I think.

The most intriguing of his upcoming roles is in Foxcatcher where he will play John Du Pont the man that killed Olympic wrestler Dave Schultz in 1996.

Congratulations to The Avengers for hitting $600 million at the domestic box office.

I was hoping The avengers would beat titanic out it's place at least, I'm kinda sick of James Cameron hogging 1st and 2nd spot.

Its going to come close if Titanic wouldn't got re released this year its changes would have been better.  Actually without the re release The Avengers already would be in second place since Titanic made $600,788,188 in its orginal run at the domestic box office which The Avengers has beat once Wednesdays numbers come in.

Grats to The Avengers for passing $600M and also passing Titanic's original unadjusted gross.A re-release in 10 years will place it above it's overall gross and maybe even Avatar's original gross.

Huge weekend! 4 movies will make more than $25 million and 3 of them will make more than $35 million!

Do you think July will become the biggest month ever?
Spider-Man, Batman and Ice Age.
The record is $1.4 billion (July 2011).
