This pretty much confirms DQX will have usage fees. Theres no other reason why the whole game would have to played online.

Monthly fees probably for Japan.  However, I highly doubt there will be a monthly fee for Europe/Americas.   I suspect this considering MH3 case.  MH3 had a monthly fee in Japan (where it was already popular) but not for any other region.

your probably right( though this is Square Enix ) regardless of where it starts.. we can make a pretty accurate assumption that this why EQX has to be played online.

I dont think it's dumb I actually think it would be interesting... just what happens if your internet connect dies?

Or the servers for the game do?

I do not approve.

If you go to pc gaming forum and ask people about Ubisoft DRM you will get some answers ;)

Dragon Quest - Internet fees - Need to be online for playing the game;..

I am sure nobody has predicted this;

It is possible that there was a mistranslation. That comes out of SE a lot. I'm assuming the first few hours of the game will be offline only. Then at a certain point the game will require constant online connection IF you choose to take part in battles online.

Requiring 100% online connectivity for a game that can be completed 100% on single player would make no sense. So my money is on mistranslation.

I'm not shocked this game is being made with a sub fee in mind. Japan is going to eat this shit alive.

Totally agree. I don't buy a game just to watch them turn off the servers after some time. Especially if it's a story driven game - in which case I might want to replay it ten years later.

Even if online is free in the west required online connection is a huge turn-off.

I don't mind the persistent connection as long as they pay for my internet.

 This is Mh3 all over again... You can beat the game offline, but if you want to get a 100% of the game you will need to go online...

this is stupid! they want to force us to pay to play online even though there is a single player mode that you can play offline?
