Forums - General - American Atheists' 9/11 Memorial Lawsuit Crosses the Line of Decency

Wow, seriously, atheists in the US are going overboard with EVERY little thing. From the pledge of allegiance, to the historic 10 commandment stone tablets that have been there for waaaaayyy too many years and now this. Seriously atheists should STFU. Noone is forcing them to convert to any of the hundreds of religions and cults out there. Like Dane Cook said once: I hope when that atheist guy dies, he becomes the fertilizer in that tree that gets cut down and taken to a factory, and when it finally gets cut smaller for use, it gets used as paper to print another fking bible!

hey now, maybe you are only joking but your post comes off quite offensive to me.  don't forget that it's not just atheists going overboard,  it's not just atheists that have assholes among the greater group.  please don't judge us all on this story because that would be just as unfair as me judging you for the stories i just linked.

As sad as it is to see, the cross does offend people out there. Should it come as a suprise that decency, and civility for that matter, are dying? Here's an example the vgchartzer's are being greeted with when coming here:

Yeah I'm not a fan of him really. Seems he's just trying to stir the pot.

Honestly all this hatred gets annoying. Why can't we all just live together peacefully and respect each others beliefs? I have friends of all beliefs including an atheist. We can live together in peace theirs no reason we have to have such crap being spewed. I think that the kind of crap being spewed by atheist like RIchard Dawkins about how the world would be a better place if religion were exterminated. That kind of extremist crap is the reason a lot of conflicts like this one are occurring.

Atheists in North America and religious groups in other countries need to recognize freedom of religion and stop trying to force everyone into their beliefs.

This group of Atheists needs to stop their crap, attacking free speech and freedom of religion because they are too immature and closed minded to work peacefully with others. They can't accept that people believe differently then they do , so they see the need to try and impose their beliefs on everyone else.

LOL, Christmas is Christian in roots. That was a good one, had me laughing for awhile.

Article is a quite biased. But for the subject of the article, I too believe the cross has no place at the memorial, if those 2 beams whould have formed any other shape or even another religious symbol would they be included in the memorial? Doubtful.

EVERY side has the retards, it's not just atheists, Christians, Muslim's , etc (personally I am Agnostic leaning towards some belief in the possibility of a higher power). The Muslims that commit suicide bombings killing innocent civilians in the name of Islam are retards. The Jehova's witnesses that criticize others and look down on them for being of another religion are retards AND hipocrites given that their own scriptures preach forgiveness and that fact that humans have no right to judge others but rather accept them and help where they can, etc. In this case, this league of atheists specifically are acting like a bunch of retards and if you cannot see this I do not know what to say. I do believe that quote "religion is the opiate of the masses" (something along those lines), but I also understand that different people have different beliefs which help guide their set of morals, however I am not a fan of a human that allows a religious or non religious institution govern their lives. I hope these a.....holes lose this suit and suffer one of the biggest backlashes to teach them a lesson, and perhaps they can learn to be sensitive to a tragedy. If I offended YOU specifically I do apologize, although not intended, I hope you understand this convoluted paragraph.

Make games, not war (that goes for ridiculous fanboys)

I may be the next Maelstorm or not, you be the judge http://videogamesgrow.blogspot.com/  hopefully I can be more of an asset than a fanboy to VGC hehe.

Just as Easter and Christmas, though Christian in their roots

Haha, why repost this crap? If they don't know anything about religion, why should we listen to their ramblings?

yeah, I remember hearing about this on the news the other day, I found to be utterly ridiculous, the cross is not forcing religion onto anyone, it's more of a symbol of peace than a religious object, and it's just one of many pieces being displayed the the 9/11 memorial. people of many faith died that day and you don't see them complaining about it.

This certainly qualifies, right down at its core, as something that should never, ever have become a big deal. First is the fact that people have taken two random beams as a "sign" of anything, it is certainly foolish for this "sign" to gain this level of traction, and the atheists should know that going against anything 9/11 is just going to make them look bad

So we see superstition from the religious, pandering to the superstitious from the Freedom Tower people, and unnecessary agitation from the atheists

A fun look at humanity all around

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

I'm a Buddhist and I'm pretty sure people of my religion died that day too...but do I give a ef about a random cross? hell no. people just think too much about these things and get worked up

funny, that thread, in 30 pages has less anti-religious sentiment than this thread has anti-atheist sentiment in 2.
