analogy time.  xD

a "white" child grows up in a community of mixed heritages.  this child interactes with, becomes friends with, and generally ejoys the company of other children of various racial backgrounds.  this child could be classified as "not racist".

another "white" child grows up in an all white community with all white family, friends, and neighboors.  thus, due to ignorance of the existence of other racial backgounds, habors no feeling of hatred or discomport towards other racial backgrounds.  does this mean the child can be classified as "not racist"?

imo, no.  if the second child was placed in a room with a black child the white child could either be comfortable or uncomfortable.  without the challenge no outcome can really be decided upon.

some athiests will be more committed then others in the same way that some christians will be more committed then others.  my objection is many of the so-called athiest i've met are actually people who's parents never took them to any sort of a religious institution in any form and literally never gave any such concept any thought.  that does not challenge their mind and does not mean they are really athiests.  most of the "i found religion late" stories i've ever heard generally start as "I was exposed to religion for the first time when ...".

I agree with your last paragraph, especially with the underlined. Atheism isn't a religion though.

fundamentaly, that last paragraph you agree with is why  i think athiesism should be considered a religion and seperate from the non-religous; but i will meet you half way and agree that in the public right now athiesism is not considered a religion.  that's a view i hope to help change in my own little way.

I really don't see how you can do that...

Don't see what that has to do with this issue.

Fun fact: In Estonia and Czech Republic, countries where atheists make up for more than 70% of population, ATHEISTS make up for larger prison population. Can you believe that O_O ????

Most people who commit crimes(the graver ones) are atheists, except for terrorists.Once they get caught, they're so desperate that they change their beliefs as an escape door.

Any statistical evidence for this or are you just making shit up?

Just sharing my way of thinking, which i consider it logical.Saying ''making shit up'' isn't making you look any cooler,or intimidating me for that matter. But i guess u're used to having such kind of conversations on the internet

I wasn't trying to be cool or intimidating, you were stating something as fact with no evidence behind it. 'Making shit up' was an accurate description.

These aren't real Atheist! Real Atheists don't commit crime!

Yeah. Real Atheists don't flip flop and convert when they are in trouble.

Of course not! For a real Atheist there is nothing to convert to!

Actually, you would be suprised. People who become atheists do so because they got picked on in high school, for an example. Rummage through an atheist's emotional baggage and you will find a pile of leftover teenage angst, a few cases of repressed rage at mommy and daddy, and an overpowering urge to feel superior wrapped around a stupendous amount of self-loathing.Its pretty easy to be an atheist when you are in your teens and 20's. Mostly because of the reasons I  mentioned and because they want to rebel against the community, society or their family so they become the opposite of what they are.But I knnow quite the few cases when a person, that had close-death experience or one of their relatives did, begins to beleive in God, higher power and afterlife. so, really atheism is a pretty empty and shallow belief. I would like to see a person 5 minutes away from death and say ''there is no afterlife''.

Religious people on the other hand are ready to go trough everything for their belief and stick to it till death. Jews and Christians are best example of this.

you describe pretty good what i mean with "not a real Atheist"

and of course religious people stick to their belief, because it's easy. they can commit whatever "sin" they want and go to confession and then everything will be forgiven and forgotten after 3 hail marys. they also believe they go to heaven when they die, so they don't care if life is hard for them, they don't care to enjoy living because everything will be fine later. And religious people commit crime, because they don't respect laws that have been made by people.

see? i can generalize and twist and talk in absolutes as well!

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

or...................................................

They simply look at the universe, at all the evidence put forth on behalf of all religious claims and simply conclude there is no logic reason to suspect a god exists.

There are thousands of religions that you chose not to believe. An atheist will just dismiss your religious claims based on the same grounds you dismiss everyone else's religious claims. Judging from that cross in your sig, I'm willing to bet you give no 2nd thought in dismissing the claim that Zeus, Odin, Thor or Allah are the true gods and they created the world, right? In the same way an atheist will look at your claims about YHWH and put it in the same category as those other gods.

And I'll tell you something else, the fastest way for a religious person to start doubting their own beliefs is traveling and meeting people in other cultures who share the same faith in totally different religions with completely opposite claims to the one this person always held.

That's one of the reason why conscient atheists tend to be more educated and better off in life on average than the general believers. (same reason why the overwhelming percentage of scientists are atheists as well)

Not really, its not that simple. They cant comit whatever sin they want and confess it, there are ''immortal sins'' and the TRUE confession means you have to feel sorry for your sins, not just confess them. And thinking there is afetrlife has nothing o do with not enjoying life. Religious people also arent as near as self loathing as atheists

You didnt generalize as much as you completly missed the point of my post based on your complete ignorance of the subject

Oh, I hit the nerve there, didnt' I? :D

Anyway, I wont argue with you on that matter, because it would seem endless and pointless, you sound extremly militant and agressive about the suject, so there is no point.

However, the bolded points are just plain wrong tho. 1st off, Allah is the same God we worship, only different name in Arabaic, its the same only one divine God, just like Christian one. Zeus never created the world, that would require for him to be old as the earth itself, however, before the Gods, there were Titans, and Cronos was the son of Zeus. Learn your wits and ''tricky questions'' before asking them

Second off,  thtas not completly or any true. Take a look at Tea Party members and supporters which are almost all christian. Not to mention ost of the worlds leaders and billionares are religious

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Forbes_list_of_billionaires

http://digitaljournal.com/article/289821

AS for science and atheism, most studies revailed that most of the scientists are either agonstic or deitstic. most of scientists beleive in higher power or ''God'' just not a certain religion with a certain God, whihc is why most of them are deistic

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Religion_and_science#List_of_studies

Than, there is also this
