i really don't understand why so much people wanna talk to others when playing a video game... =_=

For online games it's good to communicate and joke around or brag about a great kill.

In singleplayer games it's nice to have a little discussion as long as it doesn't break the immersion. Plus it's a great alternative to a telephone, it's a shame PS3 doesn't have many mics and cross game chat, most of my friends are on PSN.

I know 3 people all with ps3s and they all want cross game chat.

I even patronized them by saying, is it really that big of a deal?

And they all said YES, they wanted cross game chat.

I use it all the time on xbox live. You can mute players you don't wanna hear and it helps with teamwork.

I don't have an unlimited cell phone plan so calling people by phone wouldn't work for me

Mumble is better anyways, so is vent, and they both have clients on Android devices, I even run my own mumble server so the cost is exactly 0 dollars /shrug. console voice chat is weak sauce shit.

ps: oh and guess what, I can easily host 100 people too, create different rooms and sub rooms for whatever the hell I want.

First off, you're late. There's already a thread about this.

Second, while it is the most voted for feature on the site it also has more votes AGAINST it than any other at 9260. That may only be 27% but it's still a pretty big number. I myself wanted to vote it down but makinmusic asked me to vote it up and I really didn't care so I helped him out. I say this because I really think you should shut up with comments stating that people are in denial and lying to themselves. Yes, the majority want it, but there have been many of us that either do not care or have been against the feature since launch.

Really? I haven't seen any threads saying Cross game chat was #1 requested feature even more than ps2 emulation.

Perhaps you could give me a link

Well i gave 3 options of why people say they may not like cross game chat.

Let me show you YOUR reading comprehension fail...re-read the OP

"These people are either in denial, ignorant or in the niche minority of playstation owners who don't want cross game chat. "

I'm not gonna bother looking up old threads about share blog and it's results. There were a number of them, mainly when the site launched and it was obvious that X-Game Chat was always going to be at the top... I find it funny you're saying you're surprised by this when it's been known since day one of the site.... My comment was directed to the confirmation the feature was coming. We had a thread about that the day it happened. You're very late.

27% ain't niche...

The playstation nation disagrees with you.

They want cross game chat even more than ps2 emulation.

Sony lying about ps2 emulation is one of the reasons i chose xbox.

I can always play ps3 at my bros tho, but the  fact that my huge ps2 library was unplayable on the ps3 left a bitter taste in my mouth....especially after sony hyped the ps3s capabilities for ps2 emulation to the high heavens

Once i got an xbox i realized how useful cross game chat really is. Glad to see the playstation nation agrees with me :)

What do you mean by that?

For me cross game chat isn't such a great feature. I mean none of my real-life friends are gamers so my friends list is filled with random people.

Sony lied about PS2 EMULATION being standard feature in all ps3s.

Sony taunted microsoft's xbox for not being backwards compatible and bragged that the ps2 would play over 1000 ps2 games

Less than a year after it launched all ps3 emulation and backwards compatibility was discontinued

http://www.afterdawn.com/news/article.cfm/2007/03/01/sony_1000_ps2_games_backwards_compatible_with_euro_ps3

"The situation is changing everyday, but on March 23, we expect the list to include over 1000 PS2 titles," Sony's president of worldwide studios Phil Harrison revealed to blog ThreeSpeech. Sony has noted that consumers expect backwards compatibility as a standard feature, especially since the full support was originally promised by the company"

Well if you aren't going to give me sources or citations I won't believe anything you say.

Everything I have posted is backed by legitimate sources and can be independently verified.

Your musings will be treated simply as conjecture until you produce further corraborating evidence.

I agree that 27% isn't niche,  I should have worded that differently.

Let me put it a different way for you.....2.5  ps3 users want cross game chat for every 1 user that doesn't want it

What about Microsoft lying about the Red Ring of Death =P

...Double standards.

SONY didn't lie about PS2 emulation, it wasn't emulation, it was using PS2 hardware and then it was PARTIAL emulation using only the EE.

You're beating a dead horse, we discussed this a week ago, I suggest you leave.

Nobody discussed the fact that cross game chat is the MOST desired feature , even more than ps2 emulation.

ACTUALLY most ps3 fans on this site acted as is cross game chat was useless.

As you can see from the links i posted, the vgchartz community's opinions are NOT reflective of the playstation community on this issue

Well, I wanted to set the record straight for those who don't know :)

Just because this wasn't the hot topic on VGChartz doesn't mean these discussions didn't happen. As I said earlier, when the site first launched there were threads about it and how X-Game Chat dominated since day one and how that will not change. There's no need to beat a dead horse...

Still no links...odd.

You like to tell people what to do, but you don't seem to be a moderator.

Perhaps that is something you can strive towards.  Goals are important.

I'm sure the mods will pass judgement on whether this thread is worthy, no need to waste your time.  Move along

People who want cross game chat will go to playstation blog. People who don't want cross game chat or don't require it, won't really do anything.
So, the no. of people who actually care for cross game chat = 26000.

No. of people who don't = 50 million - 26000 = 49,974,000
% of people who care = Less than 1 %.

They are the niche.

2nd, what did sony lie about ps2 emulation.

also, for you predicament at your bros house. use a ps2?

last, your late, real late

I'm pretty sure mosy VGC users knows this. This may be news to you, which I doubt, but many, if not every, educated VGC user knows this. This is not news. This is not informative. This will not stir any meaningful discussion. This thread is flamebait.
